Anyone know why? I was shocked when I found this. Gmail is almost instant delivery like BES but POP3 is delayed sometimes up to 10 minutes. I only found this becuase I was testing a new Droid device.

POP3 will be slower. The device checks for new emails every 2-15 minutes. That is a limitation of the protocol. Gmail uses IMAP, not POP3. Gmail on a BlackBerry using BIS is just as fast as it is on Android.

I like but just do not want to convert everything.

Pop3 on a polling server that checks mail on time interval.

Yes pop3 is on a timer but that is not configurable on a BB.
