I was just upgraded by ATT from a Curve 8310 to a Bold. I love it so far, but I'm not used to the keypad where the letters are together compared to the spaced out effect of the 8310. For those of you that have had your Bold or have switched from the spaced out BB versions, were you able to learn to text / email as fast? I'm wondering if I should have asked for a 8900 instead of a Bold. Opinions welcomed. Thanks,
My previous phone was an iPhone before I swtiched to a Bold, but I have used my Blackberry 8700 for a while before. It didn't take long for me to get used to the spacing and the keys. It just takes a day or 2 to get use to it.
I actually like these keys better then the Curve ones. They have a better feel to it and i like the spacing bars on the keys.
Not only will you get used to it, you'll probably become more proficient with the Bold keyboard. They upgraded the physical layout of the phone for the Bold. The Bold keyboard is outstanding. Once you get used to it you'll wonder why you waited to get it.
Switching from a Curve also, it took me 2 days to fall in love with the Bold keyboard.
Now when I toy with my Curve, it feels awkward.
Give it a few days...
Took me a few hours to get used to the feel of the keyboard, and another few weeks to get proficient with it to type quickly like I do on my 7200. I miss the key spacing, but love the look of it.
My bold has keys placed quite different from computer keypads.
eg: " z" is on the top row instead of bottom one. "y" comes in place of "z" in computer keypad!!! i wonder why they did that!

but.. after a week, am getting used to it now.
my bold keypad is what i would call the north american version (?), which is the exact opposite of yours, however my t-mobile 8900 keypad is t-mobile germany, which has the "z" and "y" buttons switched, maybe you have that type.
However i think the BOLD keypad is the easiest to use, i switch between the two phones and i am more proficient with my BOLD.
i have the 8900 and can type pretty fast on it, but love playing around with my friends bbery bold...its much easier to type faster on it, thinking about switching myself!

Agree 100% here. I also came from an 8310 and got used to the keyboard very quickly. Also became more proficient. Now when I jump on a Curve I can't believe how superior the Bold keypad is. You have to experience it to get the full effect so stick with the Bold!

I also went from an 8310 to the Bold and it took a couple of weeks to get used to the keyboard but now I'm spoiled and can't use anything else I've been test driving an 8900 for almost a month, long enough to get used to the keyboard, and I like it. If I had gone from the 8310 to the 8900 I wouldn't have had a second thought. However, as soon as I fired up my Bold and started typing something out I was like "my god, what was I thinking!" The 8900's going back tomorrow
