Hi everyone, my bb9900 decided to finally die on me after almost 3 years. The LED just keeps flashing, but the phone does not turn on. I have tried a battery pull but still nothing.

Does anyone have any solutions to this problem? I would greatly appreciate any help!

that's a soft-bricked device. You need to download an appropriate OS for the phone, connect to Desktop manager and load an OS.

Connect it to the computer without the battery, and choose to reload the software via BlackBerry Desktop Manager. You'll have to restore a backup once it's setup as new.

Download BlackBerry Desktop Software using this linkBlackBerry - Desktop Software for PC - US. You'll need a computer, not a smartphone, to install it on. The link is for PC (windows based), not mac.

bb is back up and running, but the phone keeps freezing after it boots up. It operates on a low battery, once the charger is connected the battery charges for a bit and then the phone freezes

Looks like you need to start fresh with a clean reload. The usual suspected fragmented or heavily cluttered file system is what causes most freezing.

The battery finally charged to 100% last night and the phone has not froze till now so I am hoping by some miracle the problem has been resolved. I will update any change in the phone if I come across any

Okay, that's good. But if it does act up again, then please do a clean reload. It shouldn't act up after starting from scratch.

What I'll suggest, is performing a custom backup of the following using desktop manager (BlackBerry Desktop Software), which you'll have to grab from the menu within the application, quoted below. Check and uncheck the following, if needed. Remember, this is only a guide.

    Addressbook - All
    Address book Options
    Alarms
    Attachment Options
    Autotext Data Version
    BBGroups (aka BBM Groups)
BIS acccount data (saves from re-adding e-mail addresses)

Bluetooth options (skip for clean state)
    Browser Bookmarks
Browser Folders (safe to skip if you don't understand what they are)
Browser Options (skip for clean state)

Calendar - all (skip unless you use all the time)
Calendar Options (skip for clean state)

    HTML email options
Icon arrangement (for home screen, app folders)
    Input method switcher options
    Input system properties
    Key store options
    Keystoremanager
    Mailbox icon management
    Map global options
    Map locations
    Map settings
    Maps
    Memopad options
    Memos (memopad)
    Message list options

Messenger options (google, wlm, yahoo, etc. Used for IM apps)
    MMS options

Mobile Hotspot Options (OS 7.1 blackberry's only, leave unchecked if you configure it after OS update yourself, as I do)

    Phone Options
Phone Call logs (skip if not a necessity)
    Predictive Multitap options
    Profiles options
Recent contacts (e-mail autocomplete, safe to skip this)
    Search options (universal search)
Service book (skip since your carrier resends them each time an update is done, only keep if absolutely needed)
    Shortcut settings
SMS messages (only if you absolutely need these)
    Sounds (sound profiles)
    Spell check options
    Spellcheckable options
    Suretype options
Tasks, Tasks Options (skip unless you use that app)
    TCP/IP (APN)

Voice Activated Dialing options (only if you use this)
