I just recently added music videos into my Bold 9790, knowing that the video player can play mp4, .m4a, .3gp, .avi, .asf. However, after clicking on it to play, the error message, "The media being played is of an unsupported format" comes up. I have two videos that are both mp4 format, one works while the other doesn't with the same properties. Is anyone else experiencing the same problems? Any reason or a fix for this?

    Thanks in advance

Are you sure the movie you can't play is rendered the same way?
My guess the audio is ac3...

When I compare the properties of both video files (one that works and one that doesn't), they're both the same MPEG-4 File; mp4; codecs H.264, AAC; audio channels: 2. I'm assuming it's not because the videos' dimensions are different that the smaller one is able to play and the larger one isn't.

You'll have to excuse me, I'm not very tech-savvy in this area. I'm not sure what ac3 is. Is there anyway to test your theory?

    Thanks for your response!

    Ey SK Kim,

    Sorry was a little busy.
You can compare ac3 a little to dolby digital audio stream. Blackberry cannot play these video files from which te audio is encoded with ac3.
Try converting the video to one with audio at an AAC coding (with one of the free converting tools available).
My guess, one of your movies is AAC and the other looks the same (for example .avi) but the coding is different.
Is that a sufficient answer for you?

    Thanks for your response.
Is there any way to see what the video files are audio-encoded with?
I will have to give that a try-- converting the audio-- sometime this weekend.
