Another options is to use your PC to go to https://my.t-mobile.com/
Login and make sure it shows the Blackberry 9700 as your device, then go into email setup... after you are done make sure you send your Service Books to your device.
If ur bbm works (u can talk and add ppl) ur email should work. Should neither work jus call ur provider

One more thing... if you just received your 9700, then maybe your Blackberry Data Plan is not setup yet... it does take a couple days to setup... did T-Mobile say they might take a day or two to setup, and they would send you a text message when it was setup? If not, call T-Mobile and ask them about it.... 611 on your T-Mobile cell phone.
BBM is working, and T-Mo said it would take up to 24 hours but I got the text message already so I think that's ok. It says "Your device had a problem connecting to the server."

Then USE the link I provided above with your PC to access your email setup (BIS Server - Blackberry Internet Server) and setup your email account online.
