I have a feeling that the Onyx will replace the 8800 World Edition not the 8900. I can live without a 3G phone especially since the nearest 3G area is 90 miles south from me. I'll try a 3G BB when it comes out to see if coverage is better but if I'm still getting the same lousy signal ill take it back and stick with my 8900. EDGE is fine for checking Facebook and Myspace.
O **** no! I will be wicked mad if the driftwood is only a EDGE device. But, leave it to tmobile to do that. Their only pride and joy is the G1 and that thing is just a gadget toy, trust me I also own one. As for the 5.0 OS. I put it on my 8900 and love it. Maybe because I am the only one at work and among my friends to have it. But I really didn't see a big difference in it or the 4.6 OS. It has a lot of small details that make it oh so great.

That being the case, you would hopefully also have EDGE bands so you could turn off 3G and use just the WiFi and EDGE like an 8900 therefore allowing UMA. Hopefully?

i got the pearl right now for 2.5 years and im itchin for the driftwood NOW. haha. too bad its not a touch screen too on the upper half or it'd be a BEAST on tmo fasho
I talked to my dad's company rep and she was trying to convince me to hold off onto buying the 8900 because they're releasing a 3G blackberry in the fall.
I don't know of any other 3G blackberry that's being rumored to go to T-Mo so it has to be this one
The Driftwood better be 3G.I've read that if it does have 3G it won't have UMA because AWS & UMA are not compatable.
that is actually somewhat true.
the incompatibility or the challenges they were facing with the UMA chip and the 3G chip was the reason why t-mobile could not get the Blackberry Bold. the branded t-mobile usa blackberry bold was having too many issues.
if this new blackberry does not have UMA then i will be greatly disappointed, but a 3G blackberry is def in need in the t-mobile line-up.
