can anyone tell me whether i can download podcasts from my windows hard disk to the BB bold 9700 without passing through BB desktop or media manager? and if so, how? 'moving' or 'copying' the podcast files directly to the BB external drive shown on 'my computer' doesn't seem to work.

Did you put the device in Mass Storage Mode?
Do you have the BlackBerry USB drivers installed on the computer?

no. can the drivers be downloaded separately, or are they bundled with the BB desktop and/or media manager programmes?

Generally it just finds the drivers provided you have a working Internet connection assuming you have a Windows PC as far as putting the phone in Mass Storage Mode. If you are just wanting to do podcasting you can use a program like Podtrapper and download it automatically from your BB.

Or if you don't want to install drivers, take the media card out of the device and put it in a card reader in the computer and copy the files over that way.
