i used my bb 9700 for 1 yr with no probs, but recently gave to my dad.

i updated the software to 6 before i did, though.

now he is reporting issues that I NEVER had such as unresponsive track pad, black screens, not being able to answer calls, etc.

the phone was near perfect when I gave to him so I am wondering if it is the software...

Should I go back to 5??

I notice that os 5 is on the bb website. what should i/ he do??

What version of 6 did you install? There's probably newer versions by now.
If you still wanna downgrade, there instructions in the tutorials section.

He should download OS 5 from his carrier, install it to his computer, use BlackBerry Swiss Army Knife, or just apploader (strongly recommended), DM if the installation went well before. Apploader usually wipes and loads the OS, then reloads settings that were backed up after it completes.
