There is a thread somewhere here on Crackberry that mentions that sometimes the problem with downloading Opera Mini directly from
the m.opera site is that the site misidentifies the phone and therefore presents the wrong download link options. This leads to failed dwnlds or simply the wrong O/M being installed on your device (in some cases it even selects/installs the touchscreen vers. of O/M on non touchscreen devices). I am paraphrasing from what I remember of the thread. I will try to find it again.

If you use the other download options it works

I've been reading through this thread with great interest. I recently got a Torch after breaking my 9700, and I am having major browser-related frustration. I do have Opera Mini installed (and honestly I don't remember how I got it to install or I would share that with those of you who are having trouble installing it). The column view on Opera works great - I'm using it now - BUT Opera Mini clearly isn't optimized for OS6. The touch screen doesn't work, which I can live with, but sometimes the trackpad doesn't work, either and when it does it's very sensitive. Having said all of that, Opera is still MUCH better than the BB browser, which I can't stand. I don't get why RIM left out column view and I just don't get the whole thing with having small text/images, then having to click to enlarge them, then having them be too big and having to scroll from side to side...who thought this was a good idea? It's terrible.
And I assumed that this was a Torch-specific issue and was about to spend $500 on a 9780 (I'm on AT&T) and then I saw this thread - thankfully - to learn that this same shortcoming exists on the 9780. I guess I'll be looking to go back to a 9700. I also assume that RIM will fix this at some point and Opera will create an OS6 version of Opera Mini but who knows how long it will take for that to happen? Not sure if I want to wait.

For all of you people with 9780's that have a need for column view, DL the old Opera Mini beta as it plays better on our trackpads...the newer one, sucks!
Honestly, it just comes down to getting used to something, IMHO. I have gotten used to scrolling left to right and using either the I or O on the Keyboard or using the alt+trackpad to zoom....at first is a pain, but after time like anything else, you get used to it.
I do thing RIM failed for not implementing this column view into os6....kind of bewildering to be honest....
Hoping they do release an update with "true" column view still. As much as I am used to it now, don't mean I wouldn't rather have it. :(
I know if I had an older trackball...I would have went through many, haha!

By the way, I am using a 9700 on os6. :)

The new auto-size function would be a more than acceptable substitute for Column View if it only worked consistently.
I'm running the new Sprint 415. I would like to see column view on a OS 6 update. I agree with BoldtotheMax, I've gotten used to scrolling and zooming and making it work. But imo it shouldn't have to be that way.
Which version # of Opera Mini beta are you using (what does the "about" screen show) and what specific version of OS6 is currently loaded on you 9780? Just wondering as I know that slightly different versions may interact differently with each other. Thanks!

Cannot get it done. Text size in some websites is too small to read. Cannot seem to enhance toe default font size. additionally, the displayed text is also not wrappable to the windown. Could somebody help?
