So, my first BB was the Storm, but after the entire fiasco with the software, I ended up bailing because the phone was almost unusable. I liked my BB, but hated the phone.

So, I decided to make the leap to AT&T and get the iPhone 3G. I admit, I love my iPhone. It has some fantastic features and overall, it is a great device. But I just don't think it's the right phone for me.

My main uses are email, web and texting. The iPhone was great for apps and surfing the web, however, the email leaves a lot to be desired. Limited search functionality, plus the cumbersome UI for it just makes it not as great as a BB. The touchscreen is cool, but I think I prefer the QWERTY keyboard.

So, I have a Bold being delivered on Wednesday. I'm hoping it's as good as they say it is. I'm not looking for any extra encouragement, but I thought I'd share my experience. I'm just really hoping I'll like the Bold as much as almost everyone else does.

I did the same thing as you. I used to have the iphone 3g then sold that and switched to the bold about 1.5 months ago. It was a tough transition up until recently. I missed my iphone and the apps, but now that I have learned the true potential and ability that the bold has makes me glad I did switch. I also like desktop manager over itunes for managing a phone. I got a ipod touch to makeup for some iphone features that I couldn't live without. The actual keyboard is great too. Hope you enjoy the switch!

I did have a lot of apps, but I admit, a lot of them were not needed. They were just there. Plus, I'm curious to see BB's App World. I left my Storm a week before it was released.

Went from the 3G to the Bold and haven't looked back. I still use my iphone as an ipod since it does media really well but nothing comes close to Blackberry Messenger. Its a killer app for me on the Bold. That and the amazing keyboard!

I defected from the "crackberry nation" a few months ago to see what the world was offering...tasted and enjoyed the Apple, danced briefly with the Android Robot, and spent a lot of time looking thru Windows Mobile...but, after a couple weeks of living BOLDLY, I realize that I am home!

Don't look back...don't second-guess...LIVE BOLDLY! You won't regret your decision...

I ditched an iPhone 3G as my primary phone due to poor phone performance (huge # of dropped calls)

One hiccup I see in your plan is that you mention web browsing as a primary use. After browsing the web on a touch screen device with a very capable browser, you will not like browsing the web on a Bold. That's my guess I could be wrong. Maybe you have more patience than I do. ;-) For me, navigating a web browser with the trackball is an exercise in frustration.

My device is used 50/50 split between email and voice with some text and BBM. For those uses the Bold has been stellar. (No dropped calls. None. On at&t's 3G network which I think must be an unfair target for what is really the problem i.e. poor radio performance on the iPhone 3G) . Web browsing on Bold is emergency only, for me. IMO The future of web browsing on hand held platforms is touch screen with a keyboard.

I've done the same. Went from my Curve to the iPhone 3G last July. I thought the iPhone was the best and it was the longest I'd kept a phone in so long. But I had this niggling feeling that whilst it was great, there were things I missed. Speed dialing with the press of one key, voice dialing (yeah I know the 3Gs now has voice command but how many swipes and buttons do I press to get to it??). And of course, a physical keyboard without the OS trying to suggest what word I'm typing when I know what I want to type.

The only thing I truly miss is the Photos app. The BB one is just painful trying to find a photo waiting for the thumbnails to render.

How many of you people actually have no problem with carrying two devices? The guy I work with has a Sidekick for texting and a BB for everything else. To much stuff to keep up and running for me. I'd like to have it all but the BB is as close as I'll come.

I did the same move man, At first i thought i'll br going back to the iphone when the 3gs came back. So I ordered the 3gs and still in the box. I am staying with my bold (I love this phone). It's better for what I need it to do. The iphone is fun but that's all it is fun. I am actually selling the 3gs today and getting the 8900 for my GF. Also getting some $ out of this deal. So there is going to be a new member at CB soon

My wife wanted an iPhone but after hearing that I'm getting a Bold, now she's thinking she wants one too, lol. I just love BBM and the keyboard. The Bold's screen is absolutely phenomenal and I think it's better than the iPhone's.

did you give you iPhone back and switch to the Bold? I ask b/c some have both and use the iPhone for fun on the weekends and the Bold during the week when when certain functions are needed most. Best of both words some say. I personally think they're both good depending on individual needs. I have a Bold only and thinks it's a more sophisticated device than the iPhone overall IMHO.
