At the moment i'm using a pearl 8100, this was my first Blackberry which I have had for a little over a year now and am looking to get a new one and update. At first I was looking at both curve 8900 and 8520 but was told the curve 8900 was a better phone all around.

As I am now ready to get a new Blackberry I was wondering if I could get some imput from you guys who know best on which you think is an all around better phone, Curve 8900 or Bold 9700.

    Thanks

bold 9700 bcoz it has a better specs compared to curve 8900. furthermore, bold 9700 is using a trackpad which makes oily skin is not an issue as seen on curve 8900 (using a trackball). curve 8900 can be laggy sometimes and its really annoying when u are running multiple apps (IMs, fb notifications, sms) and u might end up to do a battery pull.

all in all, it depends on your needs. both devices are good. im only sharing my experience on the curve. gonna upgrade my baby to a storm soon.

Personally I'd go with the Bold for the 3G and the official 5.0 OS. Also the trackpad on the Bold seems to be an upgrade from the trackball on the 8900 which I'm currently using. With non-moving parts, it doesn't get stuck which is a common headache with the trackball.

I have both, using the 8900 right now with out a sim card. Bold 9700 is the right choice. Aloha!

Depends on what you want. The Bold does have the advantage of a faster processor, official 5.0 OS, 3G, and the trackpad.

On the other hand, for most cases the 8900 is cheaper initially (but in the long run of 2 years with your data plan alone the difference is minimal) and has a different style keyboard than the Bold (spaced keys on the curve).

If I were getting a Blackberry now I'd probably go for the 9700. I went with the 8900 personally as at the time I got my Curve, the 9700 wasn't out yet and the dates changed daily for its release.

The 9700 is just a faster version of the 8900, depends on if you think it is worth the additional cost.

I just upgraded from the 8900 and I'd say without a doubt that the 9700 has a better keyboard.

That of course is relative to the size and shape of your hands, but it feels easier to type with and the cheap clicky feeling/sound that the curves have is gone with the Bold.

Just in general the phone is better.

Battery Life is phenomenal with 2 Days of heavy usage. Pandora, music, recording the UF/FSU game live, 50+ Pictures, txting, phone calls, emailing, all push apps on, and web browsing with Constant 3G.

To put things into perspective I haven't charged it since Friday 7pm EST, and it finally died today, Monday, at 2:40p EST doing all the stuff I mentioned above.

For some odd reason the camera is also better even though they have the same one. I upgraded and the phone is well worth it.

If your not on a budget, then the 9700 hands down.

The trackpad alone is reason enough.
