    Hey all,
Im about to buy new BB and I have those two options, the 8900, or the bold (9000).
What is the main difference, and what do you think should I go for?

Are you going to use 3G? That is the main difference between a Bold and a 8900. The 8900 doesn't have 3G, has a slightly bigger resolution but slightly smaller screen and the processor is a tad slower than the Bold's. It's really all about the 3G, or the size of the phone itself.

Bold has all connectivity options ie 3G, wifi, BT and an awesome keyboard. It also happens to have the fastest processor and individual form factor. 8900 is of course smaller and easier to pocket but the keyboard is too small, for me at least and it only has wifi, no 3G. Lots complain about the lack of app memory but I have found 128mb more than adequate.

I have the 8900, and I love it, but the 9700 is about to come out, and it has 3g and the track pad. I would not get the 9000, because the 9700 is the Bold2. I recommend the 9700 or if 3g is not important, and you want to save money, I recommend the 8900 which is a great device.

I'd say get the 9000, it has 3G which the 8900 doesn't have. The screen resolution may no be as high but it does have a bigger screen

If you like a big keyboard I would go with the bold, but the battery life isnt so hot and it doesnt have the same amount of memory. The BB8900 has an updated camera, a better screen and I think more memory... But the 8900's keyboard is mad cramped... Although the Bold look top notch exec

I personally think the only true difference would be 3g.

I just picked up a white Bold 9000 after having the Curve 8900 for about a month. I switched because the keys were too small for me on the 8900, and I liked the feel of the Bold a lot more. Your best bet would be to go into the store and play with both to see which one you like better.

    bold all the way

its bigger but is easier to type on because of this
is faster, has 3g and the curve will be out of date faster
if you dont like the size of the bold get the tour as its basically the same size as the curve but has a more bold like keyboard

    or new bold 9700

EDGE is an old technology its slower than 3G. Your phone will be outdated faster than the bold if you get an 8900. Plus bold is the flagship device

Well it depends on the size of the phone. I personally love the 9000 Bold, the Bold 2 *9700*, is the same size as the 8900 except it has a keyboard similar to the 9000 Bold and Tour *except the kb is smaller on the 9700 even compared to the Tour*. But the 9700 does have the same speed cpu as the 9000 bold, 256 MB Application memory, 3.2 mp camera, Trackpad, 3G and Wifi. Spec wise the 8900 shares everything with the 9700 except the 8900 does not have 3G. Also the Bold 9000 has 128 MB App memory, 1 GB Onboard storage, and 2.0 mp camera.. The reason to get 3G is the ability to run applications that need data, talk on the phone, and send e-mail at the same time. I am not going to upgrade to the 9700 because I prefer the size of the 9000 Bold over the 9700 bold 2.. After a year of running the bold, I cannot go back to a curve size bb at all..

I'd try to get the 9000. It's wider than the 8900 and I think it isn't as laggy.

Why the 8900? That's just a downgrade. Wait it out and get the 9700, or if you're so desperate, get the Bold from Walmart or Best Buy which gives them out for practically nothing on a 2 year contract. Otherwise, you would craigslist the heck out of both phones and not get caught up in a contract mess. Your bound to find a 8900 or a 9000 for $150-$250 on craigslist!

i would have to say wait it out! the 9700 will be out soon and the additional app mem will be great.

but if you cannot wait def get the 9000 but like said go to best buy as they have no mail in rebates its all instant.
