best thing is quicklaunch (its an app u can buy for a few dollars-- and pending it woeks with os7) you assign it to the convenience key, so that when you hit the key.... it can take you to all kinda stuff (that u pre programed) That way-- youre not limiting yourself to one function. forgive my crappy punctuation.... using my playbook and it really blows in some areas

I left it at camera. I don't want to have it launch some random app everytime I want to use the side button to take a picture.

I have it set to password lock on my 9700 (the other is set to camera, but I'm prepared to lose that when I get the 9900).

I don't like the screen timing out and going into lock too quickly if I'm distracted by a conversation or another task and locking when I'm in the middle of a task. So I have the delay set to the longest time possible. But then, when I am about to put away my phone, rather than have it in my pocket or leave on a desk and staying unlocked for too long, I just hit the convenience key. Password lock instantly kicks in.

I can't think of the Double (Focus) Click of the Right Convencience Key (or Camera Button), is nice to use as a common Shortcut.

The Feedback you get by using it is weird and after a while I think the difference between the first and last click will be vanished so it get's hard to AutoFocus (or was this Device Lacking that feature anyway?)

Although, when I get my BB9900 I think I'll try setting it to QuickLaunch or use an App like SixTools so I can use my Volume Keys as Convenience Keys =).

I leave it on camera, my reasoning is that I don't use it that often, but when I do I'd prefer it to be quicker to access it.

Many of the applications mentioned already have very nice shortcuts on the keyboard, so I wouldn't put them on a convenience key.

Also, quicklaunch can be launched with the space bar.... so no need for wasting the quicklaunch on the convenience key.

I am using my notepad more and more for my work... it's a snappy, simple program. So I put that on my convenience key. The camera seems like a good idea, too. (although the camera just became 90% less useful for me without decent closeup capabilities.)

Thanks everyone for the ideas! I'm going to play around with a few of them in the next couple days and see what comes out on top.

I have been using my convenience key on my 9650 for Navigation. I like it b/c when i click it, it opens the Navi app, but if I hold it, it opens the navi app and then lets me speak where I want to go, what I want to search for, or brings up saved locations. I will definitely be setting it up like this for the 9930 when I get it.

Disappointed my 9900 won't have two convenience keys as I like using the left one for QuickLaunch and the right one for the camera.

Will probably leave it as the camera and use Universal Search more.

Not really an issue. For me to get to camera, rather than [conv], I hit [conv]-c as I have "c" setup as a quicklaunch shortcut to the cam (leaving the conv key set to quicklaunch).

How do you set it to Lock Screen?

I like it setup like my old BOLD 9000.

Convinence key lock, * + call to unlock.

The top unlock button is too small imo.

If you set conv key to ShortcutMe, you can by double clicking the conv key run your macro shortcut that takes 3 pictures (so you can later on pick the good one).
