I believe the blackberry Z10 and Q10 are excellent devices however let's not forget the Blackberry Bold 9900, its a perfect smartphone which compares quite satisfactory to top ten cell phones on the market today. Its dependable, reliable, and its excellent quality. I believe with all the hype with the new Z10, Blackberry has forgotten and or neglected the Bold 9900 which got them up running and competing again. I am with Claronicaragua and own a Bold 9900 but the same 7.1 OS, no new updates for over a year.

So just download another carriers OS, delete the Vendor.xml files and load it up.

You are not obliged to only use the OS that your carier releases

Try to use other carrier's stock rom first.
T-Mo just released an update less than a month ago. Also, according to official forum site, BB has not abandoned OS 7.1 or older devices just yet, and will be supporting them.
There are still people buying OS 7 devices, and there is still a lot of activity in older BB's. I went from 9700 to Z10 to 9900 and I am happy as I can ever be. So, don't worry, if there are any problems found with OS7, BB will fix them, but the latest updates seem to work just fine. I am running 7.1.0.694 (1997) version and I have no problems with memory, battery drain, or signal. Time to time it craps out and stops loading attachments, but it is nothing a quick reboot won't fix.. Boot time is fast, too.
