I am trying to get my Bold 9790 to charge from any USB source.
    I read this on BerryReview.com:
"If anyone unlock the Blackberry Engineering screen, go to OS Enginering Screen > Battery > Battery Charging Screen. You can set to either Force USB 500 or Force AC. It will fix ALL USB charging problem"

I've unlocked the phone and used a keygen to get into the OS Engineering Screen and I managed to set Force USB 500 and the phone charged from a standard car lighter/USB converter. However, the OS engineering Screen doesn't appear to remember the settings and a couple of days later I got the usual message:
""The Charging Source Connected To Your BlackBerry Device Cannot Charge Your Battery"

To get back into the engineering screens I have had to use the keygen again to recalculate the MEP code.

Anyone know how to save the settings in the OS Engineering Screens?

Or I might open up the car converter and connect the data connections to earth - is this the correct way to do it?

I believe you can set for how long you are unlocking the escreens when you are entering the keygen code, but it maxes out at 30 days.

    Cracked it.
I've opened up the car 12v cigarette lighter to 5v USB charger and just shorted together the 2 centre data pins with a blob of solder. Works a treat.
