Okay, I know this is a commonly encountered problem by the amount of threads and solutions that I found using Google. Let me start off by saying that none of those threads that I found solved my question, not even the ones about how to recover a nuked/bricked Berry.

And I'll try to break this up so it's not a wall of text.

    Now on with the situation:

I bought a BlackBerry Bold 9700, and I wanted to install Berrylicious v3 Hybrid on it, when it was running OS5, so I backed up my data and everything.

But when I went to install BBSAK to wipe the device, it didn't install at first, so I used JL Cmdr to wipe it.

When it rebooted, it gave me a 507 error, which I assumed was just normal, since I just wiped the entire device.

So I went and installed BB Desktop Software, the latest OS6 Rom for the 9700, and Berrylicious v3 for 9700. I installed everything just fine, and deleted the vendor.xml.

But when I ran loader.exe, it said that there was no software found for my device. (Which showed my PIN, and didn't say PIN Unknown)

I ran loader.exe /nojvm from cmd.exe, but every time I found my device and clicked next, the device would shut off. I unchecked USB Power Management on all root hubs already.

I tried doing the same steps without a battery in, but loader.exe and loader.exe /nojvm would just say 'Connecting to device (JVM)', and 'Connecting to Device (ARM)', for a while before saying a connection could not be established.

Blackberry DM kept saying that my device was either rebooting, or it's battery was dead, which I assume is because it doesn't detect the OS on the device. When I clicked upgrade, it'll search for an available update, but eventually say 'There was an error updating your software', and a description about a connection to my device not being able to be established.

Also, on the BB DM, the home screen shows accurately the phone model and PIN, but every other tab prompts me to connect my BlackBerry.

    Here's the thing though:
I had another BB Bold 9700 a few weeks ago that I gave to my sister, and I did the exact same thing with a different Hybrid ROM, and it worked.

The only two differences was that I used my main laptop, and I used BBSAK to wipe the device for the older Bold.

The current one, I'm using an Acer netbook, and JL Cmdr, because my HDD on my main drive is failing, and I am running Ubuntu off a USB stick.

Could that be the problem? Either JL Launcher, or the netbook? I know that the USB chips might be different and such, so that might be it.

I still wouldn't be able to use my main laptop though, because I don't have Windows on a working hard drive, unless I can install the OS from Ubuntu 11.04. That's why I'm really hoping its not the problem.

It's 4AM now, and I'm frustrated as heck after working on this for 5+ hours, so I'm going to go to bed.

If there's anything that needs explaining, please post and I'll reply when I wake up. I really need all the help I can get.

    Thanks,
    Vapour.

Reboot the acer netbook, Download and install either a leaked or carrier-responsibly supported OS, then launch BBSAK, click Load OS, then select it, then go through the prompts. if possible, if your carrier can do it, let them reload their OS on it.

I've tried with the latest Bell ROM, exact same thing happens. I think it has to do with the fact that loader.exe doesn't see my BB as a BB Bold or something.

The phone's originally from Globe, a telecom company from the Phillipines, but I can't seem to find an OS download from them. The link at blackberryfaq.com is broken.

I did do all that, and I bought the phone secondhand, but everything was working perfectly until I wiped the device.

Oh right, I don't think I mentioned that when I load BBSAK, even when restarting, it says No Device Found, or something along those lines, no matter if the battery's in or out.

UPDATE: When I have the battery in and use loader.exe /nojvm, the Blackberry just restarts as stated above.

Also, when I don't have a battery in, and use loader.exe /nojvm while it's starting up, the same thing happens.

But when I don't have a battery in, and wait for it to start up and show the no battery screen, I use loader.exe /nojvm and it just says 'Connecting to Device (ARM)' for a long time before telling me it was unable to connect to the device.

I suggest now trying it from somebody elses PC running windows and desktop manager and BBSAK plus OS 5 software for your device. If that doesn't work, it's considered flashed out.

This could also happen due to the internal battery in the BIOS being weak, although I would strongly advice you to do that only if all the other options fail, but before chucking out the device give it a shot. Inside the device on the circuit there is a small battery, take it out -- wait for two minutes and put it back in again/ or if you can find a replacement get that replaced. It should work, and yes leave the hybrids alone for now. if you need more instructions on where the battery is and how to replace it. Google it.

On the 8130, the battery was to the left of the device's battery compartment. On the 9700, it's likely a chip with a battery inside it.

I would also try a different data cable. I've spent 4+ hrs trying to load an OS before and it turned out to be a bad cable.

After a couple hours of finicking with the stupid Netbook cover, I finally got it off and put its hard drive into my main laptop, and it worked.

    Thanks guys!
