I've seen all the posts about the software issues with the AT&T 9900. But has anyone dealt with the mic hardware wise? I'm wanting to buy a mic mic from ebay or amazon and swap it. But I can't figure out if its some kind of solder to the board or if it just pulls off. There are no solder points on the reverse side if the board behind the mic is why I am asking.

Has anyone replaced the mic themselves and know what the replacement involves???

See this thread: BlackBerry 9900 MICROPHONE - GSM-Forum

Its definitely soldered. Check out the mics in the pictures in the thread. You can see the solder points. How you would attach it normally without access to the back side is beyond my soldering skills. One possibility would be to position the piece and use one of those little infrared/air heat guns to reseat it (years ago, some people used this method successfully to reseat ball grid array GPUs in defective iBooks). You might be able to glue it on too, if the solder bumps were still high enough to make contact.

A better idea would be to follow this route, if it's possible:

If there's enough room, you can solder wires to the board and the wires to the mic, and then tuck it all back into place.

Here's a listing for the mic (10x): NEW 10 Pieces MIC Speaker FOR Blackberry Bold Touch 9900 9810 | eBay

According to the post on the GSM Hosting website, this will work too: MIC Microphone Replacement Part Repair FOR Blackberry Z10 Q10 Curve 9720 9320 | eBay

    Best of luck!

Im guessing one would have to use a heat gun. Looking at the 9320 board, the solder points are under the microphone. The wire trick would have to be done if there's no access to a heat gun. Thank you for your reply.
