I noticed on my Bold when I zoom in to take a picture the resolution becomes smaller. I have the quality set at 1600 x 1200 and I get that resolution if I don't zoom in the camera. If I zoom the camera to 3x then the picture resolution comes out 528 x 400 or some other low resolution. Is this how the camera is suppose to work?

I guess this is just a function of it being digital zoom?

I hate cameras on phones sometimes. 2mp is basic, 3 is the norm, and 5+ is an outstanding device, but so much is sacrificed just to have a good camera on a phone. Why don't people just buy a stand alone camera instead?

I personally like having a decent camera on my cell phone. I just don't have my digital Rebel with me at the times a good photo opportunity pops up. I think that is all a part of the convergence that has made the smart phone so popular. Of course I wouldn't take my phone to a concert or sporting event and expect to take home great pictures but if an Oh Wow moment pops up I do want a phone camera that takes half way decent pictures.
