I have a Bold and downloaded the trial of ScanR. I loved the idea and all worked well - except for the fact that the images from the camera were blurry on the upper half of the images. This is only noticeable when taking photos of documents to have them processed by ScanR. Otherwise, the images are what I would expect from a camera phone - not that great.

My 30 days for an exchange is about up, and I was wondering if anyone is having success using ScanR for document images, or are all of the camera images for up close stuff pretty bad? I hate to go to the trouble of an exchange if the Bold camera is just not up to the task.

ScanR support was very helpful, but did say about 50% of their trial Bolds had distortion issues with documents.

To be honest, if you're looking for a phone with a good camera, all Blackberry phones are fail (in that department). You can easily find phones with 5 - 8 MP easily.

Thanks BerryGuy25. I understand the BB cameras are behind other phones, but since I came from an 8800 which had no camera it is a bit of a novelty. I want ScanR to work with this phone, but am a little doubtful any Bold camera would work.

I probably should have been more specific in my question and heading. I wonder if anyone who has a Bold is pleased with the result using ScanR for document OCR.

Yeah, I wouldn't bother. They all are pretty bad. You have to hold the phone rock steady to get a decent shot, and then only if the lighting is right.
