got one of the gel peeled off after teardown without cautious

could anyone tell me what that is, and how to replace it?

I think he's referring to the membrane that the button clicks down onto, the membrane is what responds to button presses, and without it you're going to have you buy a new mainboard or a new phone :/

the only button that is on the mainboard is the top mute button. the rest are on the midplate. a new midplate...$10 from cnn.cn will get you back in business.

Yes, just saw your flickr photo... that is the midplate. I had to replace mine do to the left side button not working.
