Battery pulls are seldom needed. It is what happens after the boot up that really matters. Instant response and smooth as butter screen navigation. This is what a faster CPU does for a RIM device. It improves the "experience" and puts a smile on your face!

I'm so glad they've used the extra power and liquid graphics to make the phone faster, not prettier. It must be so tempting to put pretty animations in to make the phone look better in adverts (you know, like HTC Sense) but RIM have stuck to their guns with this and made it fast.
You will very seldom need to reboot your 9900. I have not rebooted mine in weeks and it still has the same memory. This is a thing of the past unless you constantly install and delete software.

Oh yeah... first thing I did... then before upgrading the OS, I did a full wipe with BBSAK, upgraded and installed only English and French (I need both for communication) but dumped all the rest. Fresh install of all all apps as well. I'm not sure what else starts up on boot, but it's quick regardless.
Any noticeable difference in boot times from the before/after the 'diet' then?
I'm going to make a point of logging the boot times before and after I lean it out, just out of curiosity...but based on these early reports, even 2 minutes to load would be a stupid vast improvement over the Storm2 - can't wait!
boottimes are always good when you just get your phone, the real test is booting after few months of using it and after installing few apps on the phone.. thats when the boot time changes... My 9800 in the beginning used to boot really fast as well but with more usage, more apps, more messages saved on the phone, the boot time slows down...

If you have your messages set to something like Save for 2 months and you delete text messages occasionally (as a lot of people do) then the number doesn't really fluctuate much, so there is no real impact from that.
Apps generally do not change the boot time except for the immediate reboot after an app makes some changes to the system, sometimes that will result in a 1-time increased boot time.
As many 9900/9930 owners are experiencing low standby times, one of the suggestions is carrying a spare battery.
What boot up times are owners getting if one had to swap batteries during the day. How long would the phone be offline during a battery swap?
