Hi,
Does anyone knows why an unlocked Bold2 from T-Mobile. When having a sim card from Telcel Mexico with BIS never goes to 3G, it only stays at EDGE?
Tnx

Probably because the T-mo version of the 9700 doesn't work on the same 3G frequencies as your provider.

Correct!!!! It depends on what 3G bands that carrier uses and which ones your device supports. Not to mention if you are actually in a 3G coverage area.

Yep and really IMO 3G is overrated where I am at anyway...I get better speeds on EDGE to be honest...only thing faster is UMA, which is at home, thank god!

while that may hold for your area, 3G vs EDGE is night and day here in LA.
yep, according to:
Experiences of The Ordinary: 3G frequencies
Telcel runs on the 850/1900 MHz 3G band, which is what AT&T uses. you need to get an unlocked AT&T 9700. T-mobile US uses the 1700 band.
as far as internationally it seems the USA T-Mobile 9700 is pretty useless for 3G. Even T-Mo Europe uses the 850/1900 band.
thnx for the replies,
great info thanks a lot.
