You guys are quick. I was just going to post this myself.

I guess the real question is: what is the difference between this software and the same version that was released before or is there any?

This is still .297 obviously (not .517, that's the package version) but with probably just some minor fixes of the issues that it had when they pulled it.

Well, just grabbed this and put it on my site so I could provide a mirror. You can grab it Hooked On Tronyx! - My hosted Files - Operating Systems - Bold OS 4.6.0.297v2 (4.6.0.517).

I'm updating my Bold right now. I'll let you guys know how it goes and if I notice anything new or different from the previous one. I was already running the .297 on mine, the one AT&T released before they pulled it, so we'll see if they have changed anything. I doubt I will see much improvement.

Well what I can tell you is the 1st .297 release from ATT had platform .243

This .297 release has platform .247.

Must have enough changes to warrant the platform number change.

If I had already updated my OS with the original .297, is there any real need to update again?

I guess we'll have to wait and see.. .297 works fine for me besides the quick(er) draining battery

Well I know after I downloaded the original .297 I started experiencing minor email and backlight issues so hopefully this new update fixes those problems.

4.6.0.301 is package 513 and 4.6.0.297 is package 517. This is really annoying. AT&T should have updated the version to something greater than 301.

any MAJOR significant difference to make me want to switch from .301-other than diff. platforms?

or is it just worth it to wait for the official 5.0 release?

Correct. So while the application version is older than .301, this version is still the newest simply because of the new Platform(radio) version.

Crucial is it worth going from 301 to this one in your opinion. Based on what you know is coming down the road shortly?

    CX,

If I have already upgraded the OS and have no major issues, should I do another update? If so, what do I do with the original update files in the AppLoader directory on my hard drive?

I haven't tried it, but it should be perfectly fine. There is no more 4.6 development, only bug fixes. So it's at a minimum as good as .301.

Just stay where you're at if it works well. No point in messing with a good thing.
