Is this RIM's Newest BlackBerry Flagship device? I do not know what it is, but the Bold seems like a BlackBerry version of a Vertu to me, it feels very high end, very good build, and something you would see a guy come out of a limo with.

Do you think that this is that new "Bold"?

I'm thinking I'm going to hold out on buying my first BlackBerry until this comes out.
This seems that it might be the next Bold.
I just hope it is released this year.
And I am honestly kind of skeptical about the prospect of it having an optical trackpad.

Hopefully Not. I like the Trackball. (As a matter of fact: Dunno how good this optical thing works )

Everyone like Crucial and Kevin say the optical pad is great, but I'm just not sure about it.
Maybe it's something that grows on you.

Naw, this is a low end BB supposedly. The trackpad looks cool though. I think it's EDGE only and smaller than the Bold.

Isn't this dropping for T-Mobile? Isn't the Driftwood the same as this phone?

    The Driftwood is for T-Mobile.

Whether or not the Onyx is a Bold replacement, it will be my next BB device, unless of course something like the Magnum is announced/released... Then I might pass up the Onyx in favor of that.

Isn't the Driftwood and this phone the same phone? Just different carriers?

EDIT: Magnum is the querty keyboard with the touch screen right? T-Mobile needs that phone!

    Wrong.
    I think you're thinking about the 8520.
This has 3G and no trackpad as of yet.
But, it is a bit smaller than the Bold.

I can tell you with 100 percent certainty that the Onyx will be on ATT and Rogers. You might even see it on another provider up north with their changes coming in the fall

about the optical pad, it should be okay and with RIM's QC i highly doubt its going to be a bad thing.

samsung did it with their i907 or EPIX and that optic sensor is amazing accurate with a good feel...
