^^ what jayden said. even if it comes out at $860 it will only stay there for a minute. a little patience could save you some money in that situation.

It shouldn't though it would be a dumb move by RIM if they did that. Because im sure a lot of us are going to pay full retail and with that price forget about it.

    Ditto...

There is no way RIM would price it that high especially since is has to compete against the rest of the smartphones out there. At that price, it better have freakin laser beams and invisibility.

iffff... it does come out at that price you cant blame RIM and say its a dumb move. If you look at the market and how much high end phones of other manufacturers go for, its still a good price. The bold aint no dingy, flimzy, plastic basic curve running EDGE. If carriers are selling Curves and 8800 for around $500 full price, it makes business sense for the Bold to be more.

    my 2 pennies.

Don't forget the dollar is at a long time low, when converting other currencies to $ it makes the price very high.

It will be €550 from T-Mobile Germany (without a contract).

Market demand and competition will probably dictate the initial retail price.

    Edit : €1 is approx $1.57

I know the prices will probably drop one the Bold has actually been released, but €550 equates to about 350, which I am sure a lot of folks in the U.K. would be quite (well, all right, fairly!) happy to pay!

The cheapest pre-order price at the moment here is about 423 and the highest about 534... quite a wide range for exactly the same phone.

As hard as it will be I am sure the best idea is for prospective purchasers to just sit on their hands, and keep their credit cards in their wallets for the time being, until it is officially released, and free stock is available.

At that time the market will certainly become much more competitive.

i'd wait, when i originally wanted the pink pearl from VZW, i had to have it as soon as it came out. I spent $470 on it, full retail, as i was not up for an upgrade. 3 weeks later it was down already to 369.99, 100 bucks cheaper...and i dont even know what it is now im sure in the high 200s lol.

SO WAIT IT OUTTTTT if u can.

I went to expansys.com but could not find the Bold so I went to their UK site Buy a RIM BlackBerry Bold 9000 Smartphone (UK, QWERTY), #BB9000BLK_UK - eXpansys UK. UK prices are always waaaay over the top but it does give an idea of a potentially un-subsidized by carrier Bold price.

You can convert to USD on OANDA, The Currency Site: Foreign Exchange Services and Trading. Using this, the no-tax price of 455.28 converts to $902.734 before any taxes.

This might be a bit misleading Pete, as most U.K. consumers who are not running a business will not be VAT registered and will therefore have to pay the full 534.95 if they want to pre-order one.

As I have quoted in other posts, the price currently being quoted by Expansys is over 100 more than at least one one other UK based 'e-tailer' is offering.
