I was just wondering, when ever I make searches on my blackberry bold 9900 it automatically uses yahoo. Is there any way I can change it to google?

Yes.. browser, menu, options -- manage search engines.

So how do we add google as a search engine? I added http://www.google.com/%s to the address field and the google icon populates in the manage search engines page. When typing something in the search field it takes me to http://www.google.com/something which google does not like. Any pointers?

Type this into the search string when you add the new search provider.

http://www.google.com/search?q=%s

Seems to work fine, but I'm sure other options can be added--I just don't know how to find what they are.

At least Verizon hasn't tied us to Bing with no recourse this time. They just make you type obscure strings to add other providers.

No problem. I was thrilled to figure out that I'm not tied to Bing anymore. Now I can ditch Opera Mini completely.
