Two things remain right now:
- I thought the battery of the 9900 is smaller than in the 9780? How can battery life be approx. the same?
- Touch screen: optional to turn it off?

While I haven't used one yet, I can tell you this is technically possible through optimization of power management and tailoring the software to the chipset of the phone. I imagine their goal will be to achieve the same battery life on the 9900 that the 9780 currently has.

As for the touchscreen, there really is no need to turn the touch functionality off, if you use it like a traditional BlackBerry, your thumbs should never really go north of the trackpad and menu keys unless you're locking the screen. And even then you could just hold 'a'.

So I wouldn't be too concerned about that second point.

The 97xx series is honestly just a glorified Curve. They are the exact same size. I cannot WAIT for the 9900!

I'm still using the Bold 9700 and don't see any reason to switch to the 9780 nor OS6.

I just think OS6 is great when having a touchscreen, but since the 97** has no touchscreen I'll use OS5 untill the BlackBerry Bold 9900 hits the (european) market.

Having a smaller battery, with a much stronger Processor, bigger Screen and a Touch Interface makes me think that Batterylife will go down, I hope they can live up to their word, but I have serious doubts about that.

Don't get me wrong, I'm absolutly looking forward to the 9900 but I hope it will make it throughout the day, with Ease!

If you ever seen or used the older Bold 9000, that's how big it'll be, the big fat keyboard is what lots of people like. And I do hope there'll be an option to turn off the touch screen.

OS6 is great on my Curve 3G, you can flip between categories on the main screen using the trackpad (All, favorites, recent, media, downloaded) without pressing the BB buton to bring up all the icons. And you can always load a Zen or Today theme to go back to the OS5 style. Also practically no lag compared to OS5 on my older 8530 which lagged an awful lot (without much installed).

LOL if thats what you really think of the 9700 series then it clearly show you know nothing about the Curve series and the bold series.

keep that 9780 in mint condition and sell it... im with Rogers and instead of upgrading, i just sell my previous blackberry on kijiji then buy the new one through the same method. Depending on what type of blackberry you have, you can usually pay around the same (maybe a little more) than the upgrading price. Say the 9900s $600 (assuming), itll probably launch at 149.99-199.99 on a 3yr. You could sell your 9780 for 300-400 and then pick up the 9900 off kijiji for 500-600, virtually paying the same as you would by upgrading

I miss the wider keyboard.

So over all 9900 is the clear winner ,given the tech and the build quality, But do we have a official pricing yet ? My 9780 died on me, ( practically the screen and key pad are a goner ) So should I wait to get the new phone or should I get right back and get the 9780 ( again ) when is the "speculated release" btw ?

Just wanna say something about the 9900: I honestly was so excited to get it a few days back. I got it at a higher price actually. I thought I'd be so contented since its supposed to be THE upgrade of the Bold line up. YES it was. I am a heavy user, however, so I opted to go back to 9780. No cons for the 9900 except for the batt life it gives me which is just a day. Yes its long already for a heavy user but it never gives me the contentment that 9780 can give me in terms of battery life.

So, I'm back with my 9780! Just a thought also, if 9900 can give me a batt life of a day as heavy user, I'd rather go for my Samsung Galaxy S2 which is faster and gives me the same batt life.

Again, just wanted to comment on it! Hehehehe.....

I have both and found that once I shrunk out the social feeds, FB, Twitter etc that my battery on the 9900 is only about 4-5 hours or so different over a 2 day period than the 9780. Not a big enough difference to go to a smaller screen, smaller keyboard, non-touch screen etc...particularly when I'm always around a charger at home, office or car. If I was in a remote location then I would consider the battery to be an issue.

9900 is a WINNER tho the battery for many is considered as kind of bad.
But the keyboard is a reason alone to get the phone, the design of the phone is a bonus and the quality of the phone is just fantastic. The touch screen is a blessing coming from a 9700 as I can do stuff way way quicker than I could with the 9700.
Screen size is a much wanted bonus and ofc the hardware overall with the aforementioned U should try it!
