Bold 9900 AT&T Release - Sooner than we think?
-
By the time a device comes to the field at at&t it is 99% certain that it will be released as soon as its ready.
PG10-16-11 08:01 PMLike 4 - I doubt AT&T will shelf the Bold 9900...but if they do, I will close the 3 lines I have with them and take my business to another carrier (probably VZW). I have far more loyalty to RIM than I do to any carrier. I would love to do it right now but I would have to pay more money for my existing AT&T plan when compared to the current Verizon plans. Let's just hope and pray that the TA starting tomorrow goes well and the 9900 is released sometime in Nov (preferably sooner than later). All of us AT&T'ers wanting the 9900 deserve something for our patience and perseverance.world traveler and former ceo likes this.10-16-11 08:14 PMLike 1
- 9780 never made it to field trial at at&t... It did come to the lab but didn't make it out because "others" made the decision that since you could get OS6 on the 9700 the differences were just too small and thus it died and never came to the field.

Do you think TA approval looks favorable....considering everything else you have seen with the AT&T versions of the 9900?10-16-11 09:23 PMLike 0 - Good news. I'm very interested in this phone. Not sure I will give up my iPhone 4 for it, but may add a third line. I started a small business and would like to keep the numbers separate. This would/should work nicely for my needs.10-16-11 09:56 PMLike 0

- Please let the 9900 come out on at&t already so we can end this dreadful thread. 800+ posts based on speculation and total made up stuff.10-17-11 03:48 AMLike 0
- Funny, I got my final bill from AT&T yesterday. Opened it, paid it off, and breathed a sign of relief. Oh, and I also got a "Please don't leave us" letter from AT&T in a separate mailing offering to make me happy if I would just come back. Hm... since I didn't see in the letter (1) anything about having customer service reps that cared even in the slightest and (2) better coverage where I am, I figured they weren't trying hard enough.
For me leaving AT&T was not an option. My wife has a year left on her contract and mine is not up until the end of November.10-17-11 10:05 AMLike 0 - Wait till you get "a load" of VZW customer service. You will lament the day you signed up with them. I hope you can get the service you need with T-Mobile, Sprint, or one of the others.

They are waving my activation fee. They gave me a $50 discount on my phone. They have all spoken English and have at least acted like they want to help. Much, much better than my experience with AT&T.10-17-11 10:18 AMLike 0
- At least that's the latest update. Anyway, seems ATT has been working super extra hard to provide its Bold 9900 users with the most restricted, expensive experience possible. Most likely the OS will feature such add-ons as inactive NFC, and if ATT can help it - no tethering for the Playbook without a tethering plan. Yes - the delay is being caused primarily by ATT's determination that no tethering shall take place on their network without them getting a cut of the action. Of course I'm sure on the day they release this super-handicapped version of the phone this forum will have a fix for all their hard work. Still, that's the main cause of the delay. Which of course makes me want to get a PlayBook even more.10-17-11 01:07 PMLike 0

At this point, I don't care what AT&T does to it, I just want a new phone already.10-17-11 04:48 PMLike 0 - Holy cow I can't believe it hasn't been released! I can only imagine what you guys must be going through. I ran all over the place to get my 9810 back in late August. You guys are getting hosed10-17-11 05:32 PMLike 0
- I was told in my AT&T store today, by two separate reps, that the Bold would be available on November 6th. They said they had no word on pricing yet, but November 6th was a definite release date as far as they know.
This was in the corporate store on 86th St and 3rd Ave in New York, NY.Last edited by Jake10021; 10-17-11 at 05:53 PM.
