I personally thing this is stupid. I want to get back into BlackBerry. But there is no way I am buying one now only to be replaced by QNX a few months later. Blackberry will continue to be a flop in consumer circles until they ditch BBOS. But ... I think RIM knows that.

I didn't even think twice about buying the 9900.
QNX in a phone will arrive, when? They say early 2012... but... when will it really land? Also, it seems likely it will release in an all touch device.
If I had to guess; the 9900 won't have a successor for 1 year.

I seriously doubt the QNX phones will be out in "a few months" They have said Q1 2012, but I'm betting end of Q2, if that.
Based on past experience, I would say end of Q3 2012 is likely the earliest it could arrive. Remember, in order to be successful in the phone handset market, it must have flawless integration with BES services - and we know QNX is a long way from having that as of yet. Plus, they'd be slitting their own throats if it doesn't have GREAT application compatibility!
Well, if you don't take BGR's infamous/mysterious RIM "source" with a grain of salt (which in itself is hard to do given the fact that site is essentially a pile of hot garbage) the first QNX phone will run on a single-core processor. If that's the case it will be theoretically possible -- but who really knows at this point.

I believe Bla1ze said it here on the blog post that the PlayBook was also single core for the initial testing. Laz has said several times that they were waiting to use dual core on QNX devices only. I would expect this to be dual core, the QNX device that is.

I saw this too. When the Playbook was in developing stages i remember that it was only utilizing a single core. So Hummm..

Right it makes no sense. UNLESS you believe the new QNX phones will not be out in a few months. Which. I do not. No one at RIM has committed/promised or whatever you want to call it -- to *releasing* any phone running QNX in a few month's time. Release is all that counts. Not leaked photos of test units or anything like that.
