The 9900 requires BIS which Koodo answer makes sense. The Q10 just uses regular carrier data, so activation shouldn’t be an issue since it’s same as for Android/iOS hardware. Most likely you spoke with a CSR that doesn’t know the difference.

With the 9900 you need a plan that is provisioned with BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service), which they may not want put on a newer plan. I actually used a Koodo SIM card yesterday to unlock a 9700, and after unlocking it automatically set me up with BIS, so we know Koodo still has it. Bell also does have BIS for sure.

The Q10 it shouldn't be an issue at all, just make sure you have the APN settings correct.

Both devices still work with Freedom/Shaw.
Mind that you need AWS compatible version of the phones, Q10 no problem But Bold 9900 is a specific version not compatible with the other carriers

I have a q10 with fido/rogers/chatr - works fine - sometimes txt msgs and voicemail notifications act up.

Bis is still working on Fido for me. No problem with multiple bbos devices.
