My son got a 2nd hand Bold 9900 I've searched the IMEI number to see if it was blacklisted, it appears ok.

It was locked to 3, but ive put the MEP2 code in it now shows

    SIM Disabled
    Network Inactive
    Network Subset Disabled
    Service Provider Disabled
    Corporate Disabled

I presume this is correct for unlocked? And at the top of the screnn "Sim card: Security Disabled"

Network connections show it picks up the network?

I've run the Blackberry analyzer it shows

    Antannea ready Passed
    Voice Ready Passed
    Data Ready Failed
    Blackberry ready Not run

Then "your carrier is unable to provide data services at this time, please try later"

I have inserted an old T-mobile SIM (which i have just tried on another phone and its fine) and also a virgin SIM but if i try to make a call it says "contact your service provider to make sure your phone has been authorised to use on the network"

    Any ideas???

Actually, did you buy it unlocked? It may be that it is not in fact unlocked. Can you buy a 3 SIM to test it?

The other possibility is that it had been used as a BES device. Is there a little red lock icon on the screen?
