Bold 9900 maps unusable after 7.1.0.862 os upgrade
Please help!! I have had an unlocked 9900 for two years and love it immensely. I have been running a 7.0 OS until a week ago I caved-in and upgraded to AT&T's latest 7.1.0.862. There are many enhancements that I can appreciate, however the BB maps app has become completely worthless. Here's what is happening:
1) I can never be located at my house (origination for almost every destination). It finds me immediately for a brief millisecond but then I get the standard "searching for location". I have to drive somewhere else and only then it can find me.
2) If I try to plan a destination, the route highlights and when I start to drive, the map freezes up. I have to completely exit and clear the map.
3) If I am away from my house and it finds me, it will continue to track me with great accuracy but any attempt to find a destination and map a route results in a frozen map.
Before the upgrade, maps was partially reliable, much more so than now but it's always been flaky. We've had major highway work that's been completed for years but the maps do not reflect any recent road work. My maps version is 6.2.0.15 and I don't know if I can just upgrade the maps portion or if it's imbedded in the OS upgrade. As difficult as it was to upgrade the OS, I surely don't want to have to do it again if I don't have to.
I have had over 20 phones in my life and the 9900 is by far the best phone I've owned. It's a shame that a simple thing as the GPS is dragging it down. I plan to upgrade to the Q10 when it's available here in the US, but for now, I'm hanging on to the trackpad, hard-phone buttons and speed dial from the home screen as long as I can!
BTW, I have disabled KML manager, Imperial measurements, GPS data source is set to the device GPS, Location services are set to on, Location data is enabled and Location aiding is enabled. Not sure what else I can do. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
