With the latest firmware, I got the Bold 9900 complete the Sun Spider test in 3146ms. That's the fastest phone I have ever tested

It's also worth noting that the BB OS7 Browser ranks second best on html5test.com

Are these tests a gauge of user experience or compatibility of new website technology?

No they are synthetic tests and don't have any real bearing on user experience or what you'll see in real world usage. Sun Spider tests the java script engine only. Not rendering or anything like that. There are other tests that test real world scenarios. That said, having a good javascript engine is a great thing!!

    There are other tests:

http://browsermark.rightware.com/bro...k/index.action <--- one of the best ones

    http://code.google.com/apis/v8/run.html

    http://dromaeo.com/

    And tons more tests.

Thanks for another informative post OP. I think this batch of phones are looking very good. But I love BB phones so it's not so surprising that they excite me. I am curious to see how well they sell in general.

Yes! ThankyouThankyouThankyou! I was wondering what score it got for HTML5 and I asked someone else who had the 9900 but never responded. HTML5 is important to me being a webdesigner and this makes me happy . Thanks!

I think you meant you're getting the Galaxy S2 because of the Super-AMOLED+ screen not the 9900...

That's nice, but from my understanding, good luck if you need it out in the sun. It's an improvement over standard Amoled, but still not totally there yet.

Using GB alien from XDA and stock browser I am getting 6300-6800ms consistently.

I wonder if it's Opera or the boutique OS and browser.

Forgive me if this sounds stupid but don't the results vary depending on hardware of your pc?

    I just got 1036.2ms on IE9. But I'm on a laptop with an i5 @ 2.7GHz.

The mobile devices we use should not vary too much as they're obviously the same for all of us.
