    I like the 9700 because it's lighter & smaller.

9700 runs on GSM networks and 9650 runs on CDMA networks. Form factor and performance has them nearly identical. Biggest choice for me is I like Verizon network better than others and that means 9650. My cousin lives in an area where ATT gives better service and he loves his 9700. That means that BB is best for him.

9650 has CDMA and GSM radios (world phone), twice as much memory, is on Verizon, and supports Open GL.

Both are nice, but I would go with the 9650 mostly for the carrier and the extra memory (OS 6 ready!).

In head to head based strictly on device, you have to give the thumbs up to the 9650. More memory, better processor. But, overall, you have to give the 9700 the thumbs up because it is a GSM device and capable of being used on more networks throughout the work including many 3G networks.

the 9650 does not have a better processor than the 9700.

listen no has opened the device to confirm any of this. i have seen that the processor is the same as the bold 9700 on certain sites and i have also seen the processor as the same as the tours. so till someone opens their phone NO ONE REALLY KNOWS.

9650 processor is 528Mhz and 9700 is 624Mhz, however faster proc speed is not necessarily better proc (there is already a couple of other threads on that subject), 9650 is OpenGL ES capable and 9700 is not, 9650 has 512mb memory and 9700 only has 256mb memory, 9650 will be OS6 capable, 9700 may not.

I'm a bit biased because I'm on a gsm network but the 9700 has a definite advantage on battery life (talk time, standby, and music playback). Other than that I think they're both great phones!

The 9650 has double the memory, meaning it can handle multitasking better, hold more apps, and is ready for OS 6. It also is on a vastly more reliable carrier. The positioning of the MicroUSB port is in a very inconvenient area however.

The 9700 has the most enticing form factor and can make calls and use data at the same time anywhere you have signal, although this is hindered by carrier's poor service. It is rumored the 9700 has a faster processor than the 9650, although not confirmed. The 9700 has noticeably better battery life.

In my opinion, th 9650 > 9700 (don't show that to a mathematician!).

I never said that the 9650 is slower than the 9700, I just said it has a slower processor..

Although I've heard it is slower from people that have had both....

I have both here at the office and the 9650 operates faster in pretty much every possible way, regardless of reported processor speeds, but double memory plays a big part in all that. Battery life only very slightly longer with the slightly bigger battery in the 9700, but both great phones.

Why aren't you browsing with your phone right now ? Is your battery dead? ;-)

Ok seriously now, they are both great phones and the 9650 does have great specs. I dumped my Tour for the 9700 as soon as my carrier (Bell) launched their hspa network. But I have to say without comparing phones, hspa outperforms cdma in terms of reception and data speeds (at least in my area) so I'm not going back to cdma.
