It amazes me how iphone users have to keep buying a new handset if they want their model to stay "current". Of course they don't have to buy the new s, but still! I would be livid if I had purchased a 3g and now there's a new one. The new S is a good gesture but IMO, it still doesn't compare. No other phone has the true push email. Just my opinion.

I find it quite laughable the new Iphone 3G S's processor still isn't at the least as fast as the Bold's, not to mention faster. A complete waste of money, IMHO.

800mhz is being saved for 2 years from now obviously

On another note, this app segmentation thing should get pretty interesting as the iphone is going to start losing one of it's largest benefits...

As a person who recently switched from the iPhone(3g 8gb) to the Bold 9000, I am actually considering switching back to the 3G S. The only reason I switched to the Bold was to a seemingly better camera, the ability of MMS, and battery life. I do much prefer the touchscreen to the physical qwerty keyboard. The new iPhone takes care of all my previous gripes, and Im left with no reason to maintain the bold....

Is the battery life actually confirmed? Most of the hardware changes wouldn't seem to suggest that the battery life would be significantly better.

Are you serious? If Apple (or any business) ran like that, they would be out of business ages ago.

A company like Apple needs customers, not the other way around.
Apple has been running it's businesses quite successfully without the help of the armchair CEOs, no? That's my point. Some call it corporate greed, others call it "strategy". Whatever.

So you agree that not releasing the most technologically advanced device that could be mustered is a scam?

"Scam" has an air of disingenuity to it and I simply don't agree that because a corporation decides to take a more conservative approach to what the capabilities their hardware has deserves to be called a 'scammer'. To each their own...

I think people are missing what i was trying to say...

for instance, apple will not allow you to change out your memory device, if it be an SD card or whatever the case may be..

they offer 8GB of memory, or 16GB, or the newer version, 32GB...

for me to have the option of purchasing an 8 dollar 8GB memory card, or a 23 dollar 16GB micro SD card, or a 59 dollar 32GB Micro SD card (not 100 dollars), without upgrading my phone or replacing it, is a HUGE advantage in my eyes. Same deal with battery...

thats apple for you, they do this with most of their products. But this is their downfall i think personally.

I love apple products, **** i own the I-touch, but again, they are suppose to be marketing for a smart phone, not a digital camera, not an I-pod...or a toy

So i can totally agree it being targeted for more of the younger crowd, for people who do not need to communicate on a constant basis, but for people who like the star wars application and would geek out with such apps at work or school and so on.

people say they are too different to compare, but i think otherwise, i think they should be compared for what they are suppose to be, and thats a cell phone/smart phone...

my Curve lasted me almost 2 years and the thing worked flawlessly (still works and is my backup in case my bold fails), and it was sufficient, my Touch hasent seen my hands in well over 3 months. its a toy...not a need.

like i said, i know plenty of people that own I-phones and regret every minute of it, cause its not a great phone or smart phone...its a gadget/toy.

if you were comparing MP3/MP4 players, the I-phone will win! but they are not
+1 to this. I love my friends iphone! Its so fun to play with, and navigate around. I'd never get rid of my bb for one tho. The typing is terrible (I'd take it over a storm tho). I got $100 back on my bold from the recent price drop and bought a double life battery, so I can carry this as a spare on long trips. That's invaluable to me. I agree, the iphone is a toy, not a smartphone...but it's a damn cool one!

How do you know Apple can release this? And also release this maintaining the same price point and have enough testing to know most of the bugs are worked out? This can be a big factor in why Apple doesn't release the best super device ever, because no one will buy it @ $1000; look at the mac pros

That's my point exactly, The Iphone is fun, as with most toys/video games and so on...and the battery ordeal is huge for me as well...had my curve for 2 years basically..replaced its battery on my own twice! Batteries were only 9 dollars on ebay,

Some I guess prefer to go to the apple store for every issue, but I like to have my cell phone now..have too much info on it that I use daily...my life will be ruined without my BB lmao

I'm still sticking with BB. It took apple this long to launch most used apps on a "revolutionary" phone. Whenever they launch flash embedded software on BB it will basically be everything I'm looking for in a phone. I'm pretty much done with the whole touch screen thing. It gets boring after awhile. And lastly the iphone won't be better than the BB email. EVER!!!!!!!

I do too, but the problem is the only people who post videos are either BB fan boys, or apple fan boys...you can get vids off of youtube, and you will see both sides win every time. I honestly would like to see a comparison and the individual actually KNOW what each of the phones can do...

some moron on youtube compared the bold and didnt even know how to use the email features...he said "i hate scrolling through emails and it feels like i never reach the top or bottom ect"

i was like hello! there is a search feature and you can easily hit "R" for instant reply, or "T" to get to the top of your emails instantly, or "B" to hit the bottom instantly...doesnt get any better than that lol he clearly owned the Iphone longer than any other device, cause he was already use to being handicapped on MMS/SMS and emails LOL

but yea, i basically switched everybody in my family over to blackberry...i even reduced my text messaging to 200 instead of 1500, plus i am always emailing everybody, especially my friends that own an Iphone...SMS texting is going to be a thing of the past...no need with everybody having data plans.

How do you compare them in a video though?

What exactly are you going to show about stuff like BES or BIS on a video? That doesn't particularly work...

Are you going to show typing on a QWERTY keyboard vs on-screen? That doesn't really show anything though... Just shows someone doing two different things with two different input methods.

I personally think that the difference between the BB (Bold in my case) and the iPhone is quite simple. One is a business machine, and the other is a toy.

If I wanted a toy that I could play with that DOUBLES as a phone and a camera, the iPhone is brilliant.

But for any serious user that needs to use the phone for replying to multiple clients, and needs it for purposes other than playing with the apps, there is nothing more efficient than a BB.

    Just one bloke's opinion.

Open up each feature, and compare each one...

for instance, video playback..which one is more user friendly, better quality, navigation and so on..then they will compare messaging, then applications, then web browser, which one takes longer to load, which one looks more clear, which one is easier to navigate through and so on.

    Already hitting some snags...

Comparing video quality on a device that has half the device utilized by a hardware keyboard doesn't work very well against a full screen device. Your eye is drawn to the larger screen and you can see it better.

So how do you objectively compare the quality?
What's easier to navigate? trackball + hw hotkeys or iphone touchscroll? That's completely polar opposite and subjective...

I mean unless someone has a formula that explains how T,B,K,X,Space,Back,Trackball converts into touch UI, you're just giving an opinion on a user bias.

    no not at all..

I will say the Iphones screen is better than the Bold, yes "picture" quality is about the same, but since the Iphones screen is bigger, i would say it wins there.

and its not polar opposite or objective, maybe for the geekers who are ultimately fan boys, but for the average customer, no...

A friend of mine just brought a touch screen (storm), she is hating life, she uses my bold and feels right at home, there is no polar opposites, say it like it is, she enver used either phone before in her life...its easier to type on a keyboard over a touch screen...people adapt to the touch screen...you cannot say one is easier to type on than the other just because its something that you are use to...state what would be better fit for the average customer.

Thats how they need to compare these phones...not "They are too different to compare" if i was looking to buy a phone and read that, i would find that to be no help at all.

    You're already assuming stuff though...

The iPhone screen is better quality because it's physically larger? And then you go on to say that's how everyone should compare it. So technically I go find a screen larger in size than the iphone = better screen quality... Not quite.

"Say it like it is" is a load of crap. How is someone's "objective" opinion "how it is"? You just trust people?

sure why not? we do it with people handing out car reviews, look up Infinity G37 vs BMW 335i...they did an honest assessment and look what happened to the all mighty BMW! thermal shutdown after 3 laps...and the car cost 9grand more! If they wanted to, they could have cropped the video and make sure their ads stay strong for the next coming year...but they didnt, and shouldnt, thats what keeps people buying their product or stand by their reviews.

the only thing that should be subjective is appearance, not everybody is going to like the color blue.

but yes, the Iphone screen is better, i look at my Itouch then look at my bold, bold looks clearer, but strains the eyes cause the screen is too small. wouldnt mark it totally down, but would hinder its score in that area.

Mind you, even though she hates typing on the Storm, she learned to adapt to the phone and is enjoying it...but would she prefer to have the bold? yes...but she has a 2 year contract so she has no choice LOL

you can compare each phones features against each other, i think people just dont want to, maybe they are worried about not getting a free phone from either manufacturer on the next round...who knows...but man, i know more than a handfull of people that always say "man i wish i knew what i was getting before i agreed to that 2 year contract"

    it can be done...
