BOLD 507 error, Fatal Error, loading screen of death
- Hey everyone!
I got into the BB circle a long time ago and fortunately or unfortunately have ended up with a family in which every member has a blackberry.
I currently have 2 bolds sitting on my table. Both BETA phones.
One was working perfectly foine, but had a BETA watermark on it. For a basic user...not a big deal, but annoying nonetheless. SO, I tried to Update it. It wouldnt because Desktop manager continually said that
"A fatal error has occurred while trying to update the device"
So after a little more research I decided to download JL_Cmdr. Remember...I have a beta version of the OS on hand. I went ahead and WIPED it using JL_Cmdr and I got an error 507.Everything is going on track.
BUT...now, it still wont load ANY OS on it...NOT A BETA, NOT A release bundle...NOTHING..
Desktop Manager says "A fatal; error had occured"
AppLoader says "The system software is not designed for the connected device [A:0x00000043]
HELP....someone...anyone....Scroll down for the second phone
The SECOND PHONE
Identical Phone, still BETA, same CPR....all good...now, this one worked for a loooong time...flawless...no BETA on it..nothing.....times were good....then one day i forgot to charge it

- Crucial_XtremeRetired ModeratorIf these are pre-release Bolds, you are SOL. You will only be able to load up to a particular OS and that's it. You won't be able to use the newest builds, betas or otherwise.09-27-08 10:20 AMLike 0

- When I just did an upgrade to a Beta "150" this week I followed this advice here (thanks to those who posted it). Maybe an important step was the Device wipe using JLcommander. Here is some info... Let us know if this works:

- Just for information purposes remove the batteries from both units and the on the sticker under the battery you should see an SMTDate. Are the dates on both devices the same? What is that date? What are the ASY dates? Are those the same?
There are various hardware changes that have been released and if you have two different types of hardware then that may be part of the issue....09-27-08 02:10 PMLike 0 - For the second one, I followed the same method as posted in great detail in Blackberry 101: How to...nuked blackberry...
and well it connects, i see USB PIN: UNKNOWN and then it says connecting to device ARM and then in a cple of seconds, it goes back to COM3...and then i get an UNABLE to connect to device error.
its not even that it may be a device error...its just that..i cant even get it to connect09-27-08 02:54 PMLike 0 - For the second one, I followed the same method as posted in great detail in Blackberry 101: How to...nuked blackberry...

There is a lot of things to try with disconnect BB's via USB, I really this works and I'm not sending you down the garden path.09-27-08 03:13 PMLike 0 - Crucial_XtremeRetired ModeratorYes, most if not all. To the OP, if you have a Bold with a watermark, then you're SOL. You will only be able to load OS's up to a certain point. However, if you have one that doesn't/didn't then you should be ok and it's just a matter of getting the device going.09-27-08 03:19 PMLike 0

It is a bold handset.
I have followed by upgrading OS using only the Loader but the result is the same.
Pls advise.
BR10-06-08 02:34 AMLike 0 - Remove BB from the Windows Device Manager and remove any register keys that relate to RIM.
Next, uninstall the BB Desktop Manager. Reboot.
Then re-install BB Desktop Manager.
Connect your BB using the USB cable.
Hope this help.
I sweat when I hit with the same problem during my BB upgrade to .162.
Cheers.10-06-08 04:32 AMLike 0 -
