So after a few months my bold started looking a bit tatty. The chrome(or not chrome)on the bezel was getting scratched and the buttons on the side were wearing, and as for the trackball,it was becoming a nice shade of yellow.I'm in the uk so obtaining spares is pretty tricky. So I stripped it,took the buttons out and went to work with some very fine sand paper.Once all the chrome had gone I used some elbow grease with a cutting polish and hey presto,a shiny black bezel.I didnt stop there ,I did the same with the buttons and popped in a spare black trackball I had.Shame the batt cover clip is actually metal as are the the oval side "things".The finished artical took a bit of time but im really happy with the results.

The oval side things have to be metal. They are contacts for using a charging cradle.

    Looks nice

I must say, you have done a very nice job. I'm thinking of taking my Bold apart to replace the bezel, as its quite scratched on mine.

Looking at your work charlie100, it looks great. I blacked my BB9000 (http://forums.crackberry.com/f83/bbb...y-bold-204546/) but there's a tiny tolerance miss between the original battery back cover and the new black frame, so the cover is a bit loose - drives me nuts...

Great work with the sand paper...

You obviously haven't seen the 100+ threads about the loose and/or squeaky battery door. Fold a business card in half, or try just the card, and put it between the battery and the cover.

I tried this method and although the sanding and polishing did make the deep scratches on my bezel to go away, I suck at painting...ended up buying a new one...

but all in all, charlie100 you rock!

Looks quality. Well fit. Now what grit sand paper did you use and what make of polish? In RSA we ideas like this, cause getting stuff shipped here is a waste of money. For instance... Buying an bold cash would be $1017. So yeah. Worth the bush mechanics

Not sure what grit paper it was but I started with a soft one and then went down to one that was almost like a rough paper, very softThe polish was a car polish called T Cut.make sure you strip it though otherwise the polish gets in parts you don't want it to.Same process with the buttons....good luck
