Hi guys, recently got my blackberry bold 9900 out of my drawer. When i put a charged battery in, the red light comes on, as normal, however a battery with a cross then comes up, and an hour glass (see picture attached). sometimes, it just comes up with the hour glass, and sometimes, there’s no life at all. i’ve gathered it’s probably a hardware/software issue, as i’ve tried 5 different batteries, 5 different chargers, and 5 different wall outlets, but just wondered if anyone else has had this issue? thanks

Try cleaning the phone's battery terminals.

Are any of the batteries "new" are were they all in the drawer with the phone for the last decade?

all in the drawer with the phone, however they all do still charge and work with another blackberry that I found, so I don't think it's the batteries.

Have you tried turning it on while plugged into a desktop, with and without the battery? Clutching at straws, but it is a Bold so worth it.

Try inserting usb charge cable for 10 sec and remove, wait 4-5 sec and plug back in. Do first with battery in phone. Repeat procedure a few times. If no luck, try doing again with battery removed. If no luck, remove torx screws and disassemble the phone and check for loose or corroded connections or burning around power/battery input region.

nothing happens when you plug in the phone with no battery, no light, no display, no sign on computer, which leads me to believe it is most likely a hardware issue.

most likely lol, just wondered if anyone had the same problem

EDIT - took it to the repair shop, they confirmed it is a hardware fault on the board, that would be far too expensive to fix. Thanks everyone for your help though
