I am so upset!!!!!: mad: I was very excited to recieve my Blackberry Verizon verison 9930 and to my surprise it is 3G, why is it not 4G like the 9900 on ATT. I am shocked and very upset.....Can I get 4G on a 3G phone? I am currently on a IPhone5 which I do like very very much, but I always miss the Blackberry, so I am hoping to get the Q10 and hope I really like it, but in the mean time was going to use the 9930. I doesnt seem to want to sync to outlook either...Cant get my contacts or calendar on there...Anyone or anybody have any feedback.....Can't wait to hear...Thank you in advance

The 9930 will get 3G/'4G' (HSPA+) only in places that use the 900 MHz or the 2100 MHz band. Is it possible your carrier uses different bands for 3G and '4G'? Because if you really are getting 3G, generally speaking, you should be getting HSDPA speeds on the same phone.

9930 is for Verizon, which runs on 3G CDMA while the 9900 runs on AT&T GSM/EDGE. I'm a Verizon user so I'm obviously only familiar with VZW and not with AT&T. For true 4G LTE, the Q10 will be running that as well as the Z10 currently. As for the Outlook sync issue, I'm sure someone in the forums can help you with that. Typically the process is relatively smooth so perhaps a setting is off somewhere. You can also check on Blackberry Desktop Software and check some settings.

On what carrier and in what country are you trying to use the device?

AT&T's 9900 has capabilities for HSPA+ which is "technically" considered 4G and displays as such on the screen of the 9900. Verizon's network uses CDMA technology which uses EVDO for 3G and LTE for 4G.

4G LTE is a faster technology and the "evolution" that all carriers are moving to. LTE is not available on the 9900/9930 but will be available on the Q10

The 9930 also has UMTS bands (900/2100,) so the OP should get '4G' if he's on a 900/2100 carrier, and, obviously, assuming there is a '4G' network (and not just 3G.) This should be true regardless of the phone being all-GSM or part-CDMA.

Wait...so even if some place has HSPA+ speeds on the 2100 MHz network, the 9930 is only going to pull 3G speeds?
