    physical keyboard = 9700
    on-screen keyboard = storm 2

looks like you're on verizon so if you want the 9700, you'll need to switch to t-mobile or at&t

I am willing to make the switch so thats not a problem.

Is 9700 ever going to get OpenGL or is it just storm 2 and the curve?

I think both phones are terrible. Nothing beats a 9000...or a Droid.

Aside from the touch screen / non-touch screen difference you also have 128 mb of RAM and a 628mhz processor.

The Storm 2 keeps the 528mhz processor (and not sure that they have 128 mb RAM).

PS: I'm not talking about the 256 mb ROM; both platforms have that. The RAM is what runs your application, operating system, etc and what actually is a difference maker. The 9700 is faster than any other BB I've used.

The storm two has 256 MB app memory, 2GB device memory, and the 16GB SD card

depens on your preferences- if you need the physical keyboard go for the 9700 else S2 is also a good device far better than the S1.
