Has anyone noticed that the BSE skins have a grainy texture on them, and under reflection, produces a mosaic like coating on it?

It's annoying as the screen isn't as "clear" anymore.

    Anyone else notice this?

Here are some screens for comparison:

Here is a Bold with the BSE, and a Curve with the original protective screen. Observe the reflections.

Nope. Either you got a bad one or you applied it wrong.
If I had not given the Pearl away I could show you what
    it should look like.

I have the best skins ever on my Bold and it is also like yours. I think these are cheaper versions of the invisible shield. It smooths out a little over time but it is what it is. My ipod has the original inv shield on it and it looked sorta like the best skins ever does. I think the new version of the inv shield has a much less orange peel effect going on. And yes, I did install my best skins ever on my bold correctly.

Don't think I applied it wrong. How many ways are there to do it...
I used a strong card and slide all the bubbles out.

Just did some research and found out that the orange peel effect exists with many skins, some even out over time, and some just stay like that forever.

I, too, have this grainy (I call it the orange peel effect) texture on my BSE Bold screen protector. I am meticulous about such application procedures, and follow directions to the T, so don't see how it could be operator error. But it's the only BSE I have used so don't have any other application experience to go by. It doesn't bother me or affect the screen acuity...and the BSE has been very durable and does what it is supposed to do. So I like it a lot.

Its called " orange peel effect " and on the BSE's and IS's its not going to go away, you didn't apply it wrong.

I had the bse and they all have that orange peel look. But they are cheap and they work. After a few days you won't even notice it anymore.

I have put BSEs on six separate devices and every single one
was completely invisible. In fact, one device I gave away I had to
tell the woman there was a BSE on it. She literally did not ever
    notice it until then.

To the comment that it is a cheaper version of the Invisible
Shield. Wrong. It is the exact same material. It is cheaper
because you don't get the solution (you can whip that up
at your kitchen sink) and does not have a warranty. Not to
    mention the ridiculously elaborate packaging.

Invisible Shield has recently "improved" their product, so my statement that it is a cheaper Invisible Shield was supposed to mean that it is like their older original product. And yes the packaging on the Inv Shield products is rediculous.

Also, just a 1 screen for the Invisble shield is about $15 and a BSE is about $8 for two. Yes there is no warranty on the BSE but you can buy a total of 4 screen protectors for the price of one IS.

lol @ a warranty on a screen protector! and my bse came in a regular envelope with two protectors and simple instructions. I didn't need then to ship water and soap and a spray bottle and applicator in a flashy package.

So is everyone happy with their protectors?

I had a BSE a few years ago on an LG but had to replace the phone within 1 week of install.

I'm really considering getting one of these for my new Tour.

What is there to consider? You get two for like 7 bucks. I installed one, sold the other for 7 bucks. Free BSE for the win!

I too have the same skin and the same effect. Isn't really a big deal for me. As long as my screen is being protected I'm satisfied.
