I would suggest sticking with the name brand cards, the off brand ones tend to be cheaper for a reason.

Well other than Sandisk, is there a good brand? What about PNY? Sandsik is almost 2X more than other microSDHC cards.

I have purchased Lexar and SanDisk in the past. Kingston is good as well. I would just stay away from the off brands you haven't heard from before, in the end they typically crap out when you can least afford it.

Kingston does have very good prices on 16GB MicroSDHC cards class 4...but to be on the safe side, I'm gonna wait and get the Bold 9930 from Sprint 1st, and see if they include a MicroSDHC card...and take it from there, if they don't, and a Kingston 16GB 4 class will work with it, that's most likely what I'll get. Sure, It just might be a little too much GB's , but if I'm gonna hang on to the Bold 9930 for the full 2yrs, it'd be a good investment I think.

You can not go wrong with SanDisk or Lexar. It is also VERY important that you but these cards from a reputable dealer as it has been estimated that 15-20% of todays memory cards are bootlegged and of a lower quality. Pay a little extra and get it from Amazon, Newegg, B&H, etc. If you a deal you can not refuse, you may wish you had refused!

I cannot get my 8GB class 2 to work on the 9930. Works perfectly on the 9650. I even formatted it using FAT32 format. Any ideas?

Do you have Media Card Support checked? Does the 9930 not recognize it? Are you able to try another card? Borrow a friend's briefly just to see if possible.

Correct, the 9930 does not recognize it but it does recognize my friend's 8GB class 4. I first thought that maybe the 9930 did not work with class 2, however, I tried a 2BG which does not say what class but I'm assuming it's class 2 and that one works fine.

Also, when I put the 8GB class 2 the phone freezes and becomes pretty much unusable.

I picked up a 8GB class 4 Sandisk Micro SDHC card from Costco for only $17.99. Saved the recipt just in case Sprint does? Put a 8GB card (I seriously doubt Sprint will do)

I figured out the problem! I reformatted it but this time I chose 32K for the block size and it worked like a charm! The other time I formatted it, I was choosing default size for block size which I guess must have been something else other than 32K that would not work with the BB.

Having ordered my 9930 I'm also considering what speed-rated memory to go with and came across this article that some who are thinking about going the full 10-rated speed route might find interesting.

Note that the phone they tested with is the old Droid X which I'm guessing might handle data transfer more slowly than today's current crop of devices. Even though that device is older it still showed an appreciable performance difference when switching slower memory for the faster 10-rated media.

I've decided to go with Rim's flagship device, with it's fastest CPU & OS ever: I don't want to slow it down in the name of saving $20.
When I pull up my phone's pictures browsing interface I want the thumbs to load as close to 'instantly' as possible.
I may pull the trigger on this 10-rated PNY 32GB Micro SDHC card for $65.

Overkill? Maybe, but one things for sure: it won't be a weak point in my new phone's speedy performance.
