Hi guys, I have a dumb question.

I understand that (for the moment) there are still providers that offer BIS plans. And that for those who don't have a BIS plan, that there are work arounds.

I'm wondering if a guy were to set up his own BESx server, but connect to that via a non-BIS plan, would all of the things like SMS and push email (ie the things we lose with a non-BIS plan) work okay?

Or to put it another way: non-BIS plan = headache. Install BESx server and connect to it = phone works great?

Or basically does a guy need a BIS plan regardless, and the phone won't fully function without one?

BIS and BES both require carrier to provide special networking and support.... If they don't offer BIS, chances are they aren't offering BES either.
