Hi Guys, need your opinion. I've heard BBRY will ignore the legacy phone (OS7-OS7.1) and they will more focus on BB10 devices. I've seen BBRY patterns, means they are put extra effort for their BB10 devices and not OS7 phone especially BB9900. Can you guys give your opinion for this issue. I think, if they put extra effort for BB10 devices and not OS7 devices such as BB9900, user will go for another device, don't you guys think? I'm sorry if what I've heard is wrong. I just want you guys opinion because I love so much my BB9900. It helps me a lot for my work and also personal. Better they put extra effort on both sides either BB10 & OS7-7.1.

I still see updates coming for OS7.x, so they are not ignoring that at all. of course, the focus is always on the latest and greatest....

There are so many problems with BB10 that it's no wonder that they are focusing on sorting them out !!!

I think that BB have let a lot of the Java OS people go so updates will not be as plentiful as they were but they will still come for OS7 devices. After all, it's not that long ago that OS6 updates were still coming out.

They are and will continue to support OS7. Just don't expect anything groundbreaking, as their efforts are all about OS10.

Do we really require much more in terms of updates? There have been quite a few updates in the last 4 months but, apart from custom LED's, I don't see any difference in the updates now. In fact I'm still running 861 and am very happy with it and can't be bothered to update anymore for no apparent reason. The 9900 is a great device with the current OS and in my opinion it's far superior to a somewhat iffy OS10 device. In a years time the situation may well have changed, I hope so for Blackberry's sake but until then I'm staying with my trusty 9900.

I agree. There isn't much to update.

Guess that you could say that about OS6 too, but a new update for OS6 has just dropped today !!!

I read before in article here in CB that the support for BlackBerry 7 phones will be one core team which will continue to develop for it and everything else for blackberry 10.

I guess my question would be, what kind of support are you expecting? Presumably, we'll see BB address bugs, but no, we're not likely to see any new features implemented in the OS itself. Individual apps (like BBM) will likely see continued development for the next couple of years, sure.

We've known since even before the 9900 was released that BBOS7 was essentially the "end of the line" of the traditional Java-based BlackBerrys.

Wah, i thought Q10 is superb.
Have you update the latest OS, e.g (10.1.0.2342)?
i want Q10 but i don't know, should i go for Q10 or stay with my beloved 9900.

Going to go for the Q10 in the near future. But not till I'm up for a new phone at the end of the year. Till then sticking with a trusty 9930.

If BBRY doesn't support it then I will.

A lot of folks out there still use legacy BlackBerry devices, and still folks are purchasing them. So I like to use the example of Windows XP. There have been three iterations of Windows since then, but a lot of folks still use it - so Microsoft kept updating and supporting it up until today. Think we'd see something similar with legacy BB devices.

Well heck, with such a reasoned and well thought-out response, guess we can close the case on this.

They'll probably keep updating it somewhat, but BB10 is definitely a priority. The 7 and older OS's are what made BB start to lose customers big-time, and BB10 has a chance to make them come back. I think instead of spending the extra money working on the old dead-end OS they should spend money getting people's favourite features into BB10. So in the future Q10 will be the best of both worlds.

Agree, even with 10.1, not enough, nowhere near stability and feature of 9900.
The topic is not OS10, let's not sidetrack..

    So, guys..
    i just wanna ask.
If let say you have the money to buy OS10 devices, and currently using BB9900.
And BB9900 always keep trouble like mine.
Today on Malaysia time 10.15am, I just got new device of BB9900 due to faulty and this is the 9th device.
Are you go for OS10 devices?

If I had a 9900, and it was constantly suffering issues as apparently is yours, then yes I'd likely purchase a Q10. That stated, I've had no issues with my 9930 in approximately the year I've had it.

9th device? You need to make them send you a new one, not something they take in and wipe it and send to someone else as "refurbished".
I got a little bit of problem with mine, but it is minor, otherwise 9900 is years beyond Z10 (possibly Q10). I can afford Q or Z unlocked, or with a carrier commitment, and I am pretty sure most of the people here can afford either one, or iPhone 5 or Galaxy S4, but we prefer 9900.

i wanna upgrade; but not interested in putting up with the issues of the new Q10--besides, I'm hoping the next issue will have a convenience key or key board shortcuts to Apps. i cant believe i said that! ive been waiting for the Q10 for 2 years! so, which should it be? 9900 or 9930?

I could use a Z10 and a Q10, both available and sitting around,
but I prefer my old 9900.

Blackberry wont ignore legacy in the next few years because 95-99%
Blackberrys around are legacy atm. In 2014 perhaps 80% and dropping,
but these are millions of devices sir!

    Dear heading4tomorrow,
every time I went to my mobile distributor due to faulty device, they will give a new one. I've checked and there's no usage.
But when I get new device, they always give the 2nd batch and 3rd batch.
But now, they gave me 5th batch and hopefully fine.
and if let say still got faulty device, better I go for Q10 because I love physical keyboard rather than virtual keyboard or stick with BB9900?
    Guys, suggestions please...

Stay with 9900. Just my opinion.
Maybe it's your SIM card, something else.. Who knows, maybe you are just out of luck. Or maybe you are just picky, not sure what kind of problems you had but hopefully 5th one solves it.
