I've been viewing a programming textbook which is saved onto my Bold as an HTML file (I use BBFileScout to view them in the browser).

I'm viewing the files with the BBAlphaSans font. All the code samples are enclosed in <pre> tags for obvious reasons. But what surprises me is that it's also showing the code samples in BBAlphaSans, but monospaced.

My question is - is the browser creating a monospace version of the font "on the fly"? Is this what browsers do when they render text between <pre> tags? It sucks because I'd really rather view the file with Mobipocket reader, but it's displaying the <pre> tagged text in one of those horribly freaky unreadable BB fonts.
