Yes, you will lose the OS5 ringtones but there is a way to add them back when finished.
Sample pics ....uh I think so too because OS6 has its OWN sample pics. But your card (your own stuff) isn't touched.
I would make a copy of the storage card. Drag a copy of all your ****e onto your computer desktop just for the halibut...in case something happens. I know OS6 organizes stuff differently than 6...
Apploader is in the directory for the 587 install. Install it to your computer.
Are you shrinking first or no?
If you are, the shrinker has an apploader. If no shrinking then after you install, navigate to c:/program files/common files/research in motion/apploader/loader.exe

I'll try shrinking but right now I don't know what to shrink, or where to find it. It's my first time doing a upgrade.
Pcgizmo. can't seem to find 6.0.0.587 in MTS Mobility. Is it still available that you know of. 6.0.0.522 6.0.0.983 and 6.0.0.810 are the only three I see. Can you or anyone help me. Thank you.
Sorry dude, Cellular South released 587. There's so many I get confused. I liked MTS's 522 as well.
The other two 5.0.0.983 and 5.0.0.810, not 6.
Install it to your PC and then browse to apploader folder. Delete the file called vendor.xml and the double click loader.exe.
If the OS is sprint and I'm sprint do I need to delete anything when upgrading to new OS?
No, you don't have to delete the vendor.xml from a sprint os if sprint is your carrier. You can just upgrade thru DM if you're going to use a Sprint OS.

In response to original post: definately yes! Why? Big screen, touch screen, white numerals (yes, it matters to me. Easier to read...), Looks great, thinner....

Ill be switching to the 9930. I love my 9650, but being a 9000 owner in the past the bigger screen and keyboard are great. So now your bringing those thing back + adding touch screen, better performance... ill have it Tuesday. I think i may keep my 9650, but I am debating trading it to verizon, they will give you $65 i believe.

I am eligible now and my last NE2 is good until November.....but I am holding off. I just can't stomach paying $250, or even $200 right now.
Perhaps around the holidays there will be some heavy discounting.
My 9650 is working just fine right now......
this past Dec.2010 i was able to get 2 9650's for $30. VzW had a 12 day of Xmas special - a diff ph each day, and the bold was on sale for $30 with a BOGO !!
SO, hopefully for those of you looking to move onto the new 9930, VzW will do this same offer again at Xmas time with discntd pricing on it
My 9930 should be waiting for me when I get home from work today. However, I'll still be using my non-camera 9650 at work, so I'll still be around this forum too.
