Hopefully my new Javelin 8900 will come in the mail today. I will be testing the reception.

Bold keeps going to SOS mode while in my office. None of my other BBs have done this as much. I'm talking every time I touch the phone or every two minutes. I have it plugged into the charger because i know weak reception will drain the battery fast.

If the new Curve does this too I am going to have to try my GF's 8320 and if that's the only phone I can get reception with in my office, I'm selling both of the new BBs! Stay tuned!

I bet the 8900 performs better. But, if you loaded the OS on the BOLD that allows you to change to 2G/3G, you might have different results...

    But, I'll wait...

Yeah kinda hard to gauge a device with 2 radio modes and different OS to a device with 1...

I'm willing to bet your Bold 3G coverage is the reason for you're problems.

I don't have AT&T, hence no 3G. *Look at signature*

By the way I am set to 2G only

But even if you have no 3g, does the phone act the same as setting 2g only?

    Who says I haven't? I'm on .247 and it's a Roger's bold so I have 2G option anyway. Set to 2G and on T-Mobile (no 3G)

I sure will! I am totally obsessed about this and will do every "test" i can. I understand it won't be in controlled environment etc etc but I'll try to be consistent as I can!! My office has been torture for my Bold for some reason. Other BBs have had issues but not this bad... I'd get the SOS on my 8800 maybe (TOPS) 3 or 4 times in a day. This bold gets it when I touch it!

But sure I'll do EDGE download speed vs Wifi too =) I'll be sure to load the latest .250 os on the curve.

Other issue would be the different OS's having different radio codes.

I was thinking of dremeling or stripping away some of the plastic by the antenna to give the signal an easier time to pass through. To an engineer, this may sound ******** but my understanding is that the antenna sits at the bottom by where your mouth is. I changed my Bezel... i wonder if that has anything to do with it. Maybe I'll try reinstalling the OEM bezel too.

Everywhere else my Bold is fine, showing 5 full bars most of the time.

True. I'll try both phones with the latest OS. If only I had a friend w/ a T-mobile sim. but then one phone may affect the other if its too close the possibilities.

Other issue would be the different OS's having different radio codes.

this might be an option for your office. we used them at our old offices and they boost the signal strength dramatically.
Poynting Antennas - Product: GSM CellPoynt Antenna

edit: it's for RSA bandwidth, but i'm sure there is something in Canada for your needs.
    P.S. they're pretty cheap too

I'd imagine we'll have to wait for him to take the 8900 to work tomorrow. Sounds like that will be the big test. The best signal at my job is T-Mobile. Everyone else has to either stand at a window or go outside to make a call.
