- Hey guys i seem to be having some weird issue come out on no where with my 9780. For some reason i started experiencing really long sand clocks and battery drainage like no other. I wouldn't make it 5 hours without it dying completely from a full battery. While im at work my phone sits on the desk and i dont use it.
The sand clocks would freeze my phone for an insane 4 min before i decided to reload .600 os in hopes to fix this issue. I was running 570 when the issues started happening. Battery died again after 5 hours, but this would be expected i think after a new os install. I swapped my battery out for another one i had and the same issue is happening. Not sure where to turn... or what to do! I have no apps installed at all!Last edited by Xavior; 07-13-11 at 06:35 PM.

Why do you get a sand Clock on 9780?

GPS on um.. maybe by default now since i loaded the os. I have always had gps on and it has never had this issue!
Not too sure if the cell tower is down but why would that kill my battery? My battery died while i was in transit between shops so multiple towers were used across the city.07-13-11 07:51 PMLike 0 - This is understandable but the issue lies when im traveling for most of day and the battery still dies as per schedule.. What would trigger the sand clocks all of a sudden than? that doesn't seem the normal..even after several battery pulls.. Sand clocks that lasts 5 min is a sign of something really wrong no?

- If you're in Ontario, we have been experiencing a lot of 3G issues on the Rogers network. It's worse since you're moving from one place to another and the cell towers are draining your battery. I've had the clock appear when changing music too. I would suggest let it on 2G until Rogers fix their 3G issues. There was also a BIS outage in certain parts of Canada last night. I lost BIS for awhile.07-14-11 11:53 AMLike 0

Yup left my phone on 2G but just today as i was about to leave work i noticed clock after clock after clock when trying to type out an email to a co-worker. Its on 2G and the same issue started happening, wow, just noticed, that whole random sand clock just ate the last 30 percent of battery in a matter of 15 min. I have no idea whats causing this but as soon as it happens my battery is toast.
Yesterday was a trial run with a fresh os and 2G on all day, the battery lasted all day but today is something different!07-15-11 06:21 PMLike 0 - Yup left my phone on 2G but just today as i was about to leave work i noticed clock after clock after clock when trying to type out an email to a co-worker. Have you considered going back to .448? I don't know much about the other OS. Sounds like ever since you updated to the other ones, that's when you started having these issues.07-16-11 12:44 AMLike 0 - I'd recommend you boot up the device in the safe mode once and use it for a day in the safe mode Blackberry Safe Boot - (All Models - All OS Versions), If the device works perfectly in the safe mode then it implies that you have an application error, if it does not then wipe the device completely using either app loader or some utilities like JL_cmdr and then reinstall the OS that supposedly worked fine on the device. Also keep the device on the 2G mode, ensure that the gps is turned off and no location based application or service runs in the background.07-16-11 01:17 AMLike 0
- no no, it started before i reloaded the os. I was running 570 and it was fine for months and out of nowhere this started happening.07-16-11 01:06 PMLike 0
