I am very happy to report back to you all that I have found a workaround that has worked for me.
I've quite literally just created an account to thank you for this helpful information - you're a star!

By the way, does anyone actually know what these 'Social Feeds' are or what they do? Just trying to figure out what my user might be missing when she gets her replacement 9900 back, sans Social Feeds!

I have this issue since 2 days.
Unchecking the case "social ..." in custom back-up fixed the issue

Thank you very much 'pilot-leo' for this help

To resolve this issue, perform a selective backup of the BlackBerry smartphone data:

    Launch BlackBerry Desktop Software
    Click on Back Up Now
For the Backup Type, select Custom
Click the check box next to the Data Type column header
    Scroll down to Social Feeds
Click the box to de-select this database
    Click on Back Up
