AutoStandby only put's the device into standby mode. It doesn't lock it. The lock would follow the settings that you use on the device, so if you don't have a lock in place, you would just have to press the Mute/Standby key on the top of the Bold to have it exit standby.

I say AutoStandBy for both questions:
- It puts your phone to sleep where AutoLock doesn't, thus conserving battery life.
- One push of a button (mute button) to exit standby. With autolock, two buttons - * and Send button.
In a way,Autostandby also locks up your device. If it's in stand-by,it'll conserve your battery life and also won't let you press random keys unless you press the Mute button.
That's true. It's more of a key lock then an actual lock, but a lock none the less.

You know what I do. I adjust the key settings to my left side button which locks my phone and sets it on standby at the same time. I hate automatic programs.
@fabuloso I love automatic programs-you set it up and they make your life easier;)I use Autostandby.
lol, yeah i know. Sometimes, its a hassle. If I want to keep Pandora rolling, I tend to forget that my auto-whatever is on, and it shuts off Pandora. Annoying really. So I just manually do everything. Only time that I do use the auto-standby or auto-lock is when I am at work.
@fabuloso I have the same problem not with one,but two programs interfering with Autostandby: PodTrapper and Flycast. And I have info it's Autostadby's fault. But I find workarounds...so not really a big deal:)
I don't have my BB handy right now but doesn't AutoStandby have the option to both go into standby and lock when you go into the options?
No. Lock is still done with regular security.

I just checked, and autostandby (when set to lock and put into standby mode) does "lock" the device when a password is specified on the device. So it does lock the device, if a password is set. Otherwise, it just does the keypad lock (I think).
Went went ahead and paid the $2.95 for autostandby, primarily because I like that I only have to press 1 button to wake up the device compared to 2 buttons for autolock.
I use the auto lock everytime I put my BB in my shirt pocket or I end up redialing with my bicep.
How do you do this?
Autostandby also allows exceptions. If Pandora is running, you can go into Autostandby's options and make it so that the device won't go into standby if Pandora is running.
As an aside, I use Slacker on my BB since it can go into standby and still play. Also, Slacker allows bluetooth where Pandora doesn't (played through my car audio). And slacker allows "caching" of stations. You can play cached stations without using transmission power thus saving battery life and can listen when in bad cell areas... probably use it even without a data plan. The advantage Pandora has over Slacker on the BB is a smaller memory footprint. .... I use Pandora on my laptop however.
